Van Es & Krens take Dutch national championships

Van Es & Krens take Dutch national championships

After five races on different tracks all over Holland, the national Dutch Touring Car outdoor championship in both the Modified and Stock class would be decided in the 6th and final race. Qualifying started on a dry track on Sunday with Mitchel van Es seeming to be the man to beat in the Modified category. Unfortunately he made a small mistake on the last lap of the first qualifier loosing the TQ to Rob Jansen. In the Stock class Robert Krens posted a clean TQ run with a gap of a couple of seconds in front of Sybrand de Boer and Jitse Miedema.

The second round of qualifying saw Mitchell having a better run and he took the TQ spot from Rob in front of Jetze Reitsma and Ronald Arts. In the Stock class Robert scored another TQ run, this time ahead of Jitse and Sybrand. The third and final round of qualifiers did not bring any news. Both Mitchell and Robert posted TQ runs again, claiming the top spots on the grid. In the supporting Pro10 class Reinder Wilms took the TQ from Ben Voorhaar and Roy Pie while in the F1 class Alexander Roeleveld grabbed the pole position from Michael Lepelaar and Eric Mulder.

In the Modified finals Mitchell would easily take wins in all legs to take the day’s win and also the overall championship title. Behind Mitchell the race was on for the final podium spots. Rob Jansen experienced some problems and this gave Ronald Arts the opportunity to take the runner-up spot while Jetze Reitsma had a horrible crash in the opening final, but he recovered strong and could take the 3rd place.

Despite the win Jitse had to settle for 2nd place in the national standings, handing Robert the Dutch National Stock Championship title.

In the Pro10 class Reinder was clearly unbeatable this year. He won the final race and also won the 2014 National Championship while in Formula 1 Alexander and Michael showed some close racing to the end. Unfortunately Micheal experienced motor problems and lost power during the run so he could not keep the pressure on Alexander and had to settle for 2nd.
