Akio Sobue wins at Speed King Tour Rd6

The final round of 2014 Speed King Tour was held at the Crest Speedway indoor carpet track in the Gunma prefecture. In the Touring Car Modified class, TRF young gun Akio Sobue lead the championship going into the final round from last year’s Speed King Yugo Nagashima. After three rounds of qualifying Akio took the overall TQ from VBC driver Yugo who scored a round TQ but missed the pole position.

In the Modified final Akio had a perfect start and he was able to keep his position until the chequered flag. Yugo won the battle for 2nd place but was not able to catch Akio. In 3rd place Naoki Akiyama, driving a Yokomo, rounded out the podium. In the overall championship Akio Sobue took the 2014 title honours by winning three out of six rounds. In the Stock class championship leader Yuuichi Anahara only managed to get into the B final because of two crashes in the qualifying heats, but nevertheless he claimed the overall championship thanks to scoring enough points in the previous rounds of the championship. Next year’s Speed King Tour starts at the Rajiten Nagoya indoor track in February.
