Alberta Touring Series Rd1 – Report

Round 1 of the newly established Alberta Touring Series was held in Calgary, Alberta, hosted by the CARCAR club. 125 entries spread across the five classes of Touring Car Modified, Touring Car Stock, Mini, 1/12th scale Stock and Formula. In the Touring Modified class where the Reedy Race Format was used, there were 24 entries, with five rounds of random sorted heads up racing. In the end, Steve Soon (Serpent) with a five win record beat out Peter Toszer (Team Associated) on tiebreak points to take top spot on the podium with Wayne Mah (Awesomatix) coming in 3rd.

In the Viper Touring Stock class with 48 entries, Wayne Mah (Awesomatix) took his TQ into the main and lead from start to finish with Steve Soon (Serpent) in 2nd and Jim Chapman (Xray) in 3rd.

In the Tamiya Mini class, TQ Walter Slany had early troubles that he did not recover from allowing Ivan Chan to take top spot on the podium. Tim Blackwell and Cal Freeman rounded out the top 3.

In the 1/12th scale Stock 13.5 class, Peter Toszer (Team Associated) worked his way up early thru the field and never looked back for the win. A very tight battle for 2nd among four cars saw Aaron Freind beat out Kevin Bowles. TQ Al Mikesic came in 4th.

Alberta Touring Series Rd1 – Report

The F1 class saw Cal Freeman working his way to the top spot with a fast car and great driving. The close battle for 2nd saw Ivan Chan beat out Aaron Freind to the finish line who then beat out TQ Steve Soon to the finish line with less than a second separating the 3.
