Mibosport Cup 2014/15 Rd1 – Report
The opening round of the Mibosport Cup took place this past weekend at the Hotel-Sport in Hrotovice. The event saw a massive turn out on drivers from six different countries including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, Poland and Estonia. A total of 91 drivers attended the on-road classes with 34 drivers in Touring Car Modified, 38 in Stock LRP, 9 in Formula and 11 drivers in the 1/12th scale class. The off-road classes attracted a total of 82 drivers with 42 drivers participating in 2WD Buggy and 40 drivers in 4WD Buggy.
The TQ in the Touring Car Modified class went to Ronald Völker and right from the start of the first A-main, Ronald was in a fight with Marek Cerny who showed some very aggressive driving. Despite the battle, Ronald and Marek managed to open a big gap on 3rd placed Jiri Vysin, who was controlling the rivals behind him. The second A-main started out very similar, but a few laps into the race Ronald opened a gap to Marek to take the win ahead of Marek and Jiri. The third and final A-main again had Ronald and Marek battling for the top position. However some 4 minutes into the race, Marek made a mistake to loose 2nd place. Ronald Völker then was able to cruise to the win. The overall result saw Ronald taking the win from Marek and Jiri, who rounded out the podium.
In the Stock LRP class it was Rene Kölbel, who won all the three qualifying heats, to take the TQ and the pole position for the finals. Rene then went on to dominate the A-mains as well and with a clean sweep in all final legs he took the overall win easily. Behind him, after a contact between Jürgen Horn and Oliver Havranek in the opening A-main, Bartlomiej Zambrzycki gained the 2nd position and he kept it till the finish of the race while Jürgen Horn came in 3rd. Jürgen and Oliver fought again in the second A-main but it was again Bartlomiej who finished the race in 2nd ahead of Oliver and Jürgen. In the 3rd and decisive A-main, Oliver Havranek finished 2nd ahead of Bartlomiej. In the overall ranking Bartlomiej Zambrzycki grabbed the runner-up spot from Oliver Havranek while Rene Kölbel took the overall win.
In the Formula class Rene Kölbel again was the man to beat as he took the TQ for the finals. In the opening A-main Rene made a mistake and this allowed Czech driver Vitezslav Hola to take the lead and win A1 in front of Herbert Weber and Rene Kölbel. The second final was won by the TQ holder, Rene Kölbel, followed by Herbert Weber and Mario Sailer. Rene then also scored a win in the third final to take the overall victory. Mario Sailer and Herbert Weber came in 2nd and 3rd in A3 with the 3rd place being enough for Herbert to take the runner-up spot from Vitezslav Hola who rounded out the podium.
The 1/12th class had Roman Stopka winning all three qualifying round to take the pole position for the final legs. An amazing drive in the opening A-main final had Marcell Wostalek, who started from 5th on the grid, finishing 2nd behind Romand Stopka and ahead of Sascha Klug. The win in the second final again went to Roman Stopka, this time ahead of Sascha Klug and Marcell Wostalek. Roman then also won the third and final A-main in front of Sascha Klug and Czech driver Martin Zvara. The overall ranking had Roman Stopka taking the day’s win from Sascha Klug in 2nd and Marcell Wostalek in 3rd.
The 2WD Buggy class was dominated by Martin Bayer who won all qualifying rounds to take the TQ. A1 saw an early mistake by Kaja Novotny that allowed Radek Flek and Ronald Völker to move up a position each until Radek made an error to let Ronald by to take the 2nd place in the opening main. Kaja again made a mistake at the start of A2 which saw him drop in the order but errors by other drivers allowed both Ronald and Kaja to take the 2nd and 3rd place behind Martin Bayer who also won the second A-final. A3 had Radek Flek taking the 2nd place right after the start with Kaja Novotny in tow. Martin Bayer then made a rare mistake and dropped down the field only to get back into 2nd place in front of Ronald Völker soon after. Martin then overtook Radek for the 1st place to take the win. The top 3 ranking saw Martin Bayer coming out successful in front of Ronald Völker and Kaja Novotny. In the 4WD class it was again Martin Bayer who grabbed the TQ and win, this time in front of Kaja Novotny and Bartlomiej Zambrzycky.
The 2nd round of the Mibosport Cup will be held on the 22nd of November, two weeks before the opening round of the ETS at the same place.
