Ryan Maifield joins Novarossi

Following a semi-official announcement some days ago Italian engine manufacturer Novarossi now officially welcomes US super star Ryan Maifield to their factory team. Having used Reedy and LRP engines in the past, the winner of last year’s Dirt Nitro Challenge has now chosen Novarossi engines as his weapon of choice and he has the following to say about the deal:

I want to thank both companies for the past successes we’ve had together. I wish both companies luck in the future with there nitro racing programs. I chose Novarossi because the engine line offers everything I need to be successful. A broad range of engines with different power bands and speed, great gas mileage, reliability, and a great team backing.

Paul Sinclair wins 2WD at Superbowl Shakedown

The first Superbowl Shakedown race was hosted by Redneck R/C in Baldwinsville, NY. The race saw over 200 entries and in the 2WD class it was X Factory’s Paul Sinclair who grapped the TQ spot with the only 18-lap run in qualifying. Computer problems plagued the mains, and the large entry made things run late, so the mains were cancelled and trophies awarded based on qualifying. This handed TQ Paul the win in the 40-car field.

JConcepts 3Ds stadium truck tyres

JConcepts introduce the 3Ds tyre for 1/10th stadium truck. Debuted at the IFMAR World Championships in Pattaya, Thailand, for the 1/8th buggy class, the 3Ds’ are developed to be the ultimate slick-groove tyre and are a first to combine the high-stability design of a black groove bar tyre into an individually flexible pattern of finely spaced Double Dee lugs in one package. 3Ds excel on indoor and outdoor hard packed surfaces with either dry or wet conditions and they come in a variety of compounds including blue (soft), green (super soft) and black (mega soft).

Nicolas Risser doubles at Euro Indoor Race

The Euro Indoor Race 2014 took place at the Black Country Arena in Chareroi. In the 4WD Nicolas Risser (Team C) brought home the win in front o team mate Tom Maquel. Sébastien Wartelle (Xray) completed the podium in third position. The 2WD class again had Nicolas Risser (Team C) walking away with the win, this time Sébastien Wartelle (Xray) came in second while Team C’s Kevin Lee grabbed the remaining podium spot.

8th Petit RC Race – Announcement

The 8th Petit RC Race will take place during this year’s Intermodellbau fair in Dortmund, Germany from the 11th to 13th of April. After successful events in France, the UK and Norway, a race that saw the meeting run on an US-style clay track, the race will now return to a carpet surface. Exotek F1 Ultra Spur gears

New from Exotek Racing come machined spur gears for Tamiya F1 cars. The gears are made to fit the F103 and F104 range of cars and they are made from 100 percent machined POM to insure true roundness, they use the stock bearing for ultra smooth diff action, and sport raised lips to help shield the diff balls from road debris. They also accept up to 16 3mm balls for ultra smooth operation. The gears are available in a 48 pitch variant with 70 and 73 teeth as well as a 64 fine pitch 93T and 97T variant.

IFMAR U-turn as 1/12th Worlds back on carpet

IFMAR have made the surprise announcement that the upcoming 1/12th scale World Championships will be held on carpet having originally made the decision to have the event on asphalt with a control tire. The U-turn seems to have come about following pressure from racers who made their feelings known regarding the choice of surface. We would expect that with the event returning to carpet that tire choice will once again be open. We wait for further details.
