Chris Banham wins Nitro Buggy at New Zealand Nats

The New Zealand Nationals 1/8th Offroad Nationals was held at the ARCCC track with qualifying spreading across two days, starting on Friday and finishing on Saturday. In the Nitro Buggy class Chris Banham was sitting tie on points with Jonathan Collucio after the five qualifying rounds with his best time being only 1 second slower. Kent Perry ended the qualifiers in 3rd place.

Following the semis Chris even bumped one place up to take the pole position for the main final and he tried to take full advantage of the clean air up front but by the sound of the buzzer he was in a fight with Kent Perry with both swapping positions several times in the opening stages. At the first round of fuel stops Chris was able to open a small gap and during the remainder of the race he was able to manage his first place to take the overall win at the NZRCA Nationals in front of team mate Kent Perry. Gage Peters rounded out the podium in 3rd.
