Stiles wins BRCA GT12 Nationals Rd2

Round 2 of the four-round BRCA 1/12 GT12 Nationals took place at the Broxtowe track in central UK. GT12 cars are simplified 1/12 scale pan cars which utilise basic suspension, 13.5 stock motors, and GT style bodies. The emphasis is on affordable, low-cost racing that is well suited to club, regional, and national competitions. Over the last two years GT12 has exploded in popularity in the UK as drivers have welcomed the simple and low-cost nature of racing the class at club level. At this event there was a capacity entry of 70 GT12 cars complimented by 20 World GT cars and 10 F1 cars.

In qualifying experienced 1/12th scale racer Mark Stiles stamped his authority on the event and cruised to the TQ spot by three seconds in what was a very competitive field full of established 1/12 and touring car drivers. In the A Main Mark got off to a flying start and opened up a 1.5 second-gap inside the opening minute. In doing so he set the two fastest laps of the event, both more than 0.2s faster than the competition. With a gap of approaching three seconds by the halfway point, Mark then settled into cruise mode to comfortably take the win and with it a maximum point score to leave him on top of the overall championship standings.
