Dutch BL-Cup Rd1 – Report

The first round of the Dutch BL-Cup for 1/8th scale electric brushless buggies was held at Raco2000 in Utrecht. The previously modified track now offers more challenges for 1/8th buggies and it was the first race on the new layout. With 55 drivers from the Netherlands and Germany it was a good turnout for the BL-Cup which only started in Holland this year. Sunday started out cold but dry and around mid-day the sun came out making for perfect weather conditions. After the qualifiers Bart Mullink, Nick Anneveld and Stefan Petri were the fastest drivers with Bart having won two of the three qualification heats while Nick came out fastest in the other.

The mains started in the afternoon and in both semifinals Bart and Nick showed that they would be the contenders for the top spot. The final starting grid saw Bart on pole followed by Nick in 2nd and Stefan in 3rd. The A-main start was clean despite 12 drivers trying to find a way through the first corner, and both Bart and Nick would instantly open a gap on the field with Stefan in tow. Bart and Nick stayed close together and in the closing stages a mistake by Bart handed Nick the lead. In the last minutes the fight was on for the win with both drivers making small errors but the order remained the same and so Nick won the race followed by Bart and Stefan.

Thanks to Oscar Koot for the report.
