Serpent 977 Evo carbon chassis & SL8 XLi gearbox

Serpent 977 Evo carbon chassis & SL8 XLi gearbox

Serpent have introduced new option parts for the Viper 977 Evo as well as older specification 977 cars. First up is the carbon and aluminium chassis set for the latest Evo kit. Coming as a set the carbon fibre chassis included front and centre aluminium inserts, with the front one being used to control the flex of the chassis while the centre part below the engine adds rigidity and cooling surface. Specific to the chassis for the 977 Evo is a different front width and geometry but the chassis is also usable on older spec 977 kits. Included with the chassis, that scrubs around 60g of weight compared to the standard alloy chassis, come flanged aluminium brackets to hold the inserts in place without doing harm to the carbon material.

Also new is the SL8 XLi gearbox set for older spec 977 cars. Coming as a standard item with the 977 Evo the gearbox features a smaller and lighter design while updated fine-pitch gears improve efficiency without sacrificing strength. The gearbox can be used with the 977 and 977-WC when utilising the updated Centax pinion gears also.
