The fifth round of this year’s Speed King Tour was held at the RC stadium Sodegaura outdoor tarmac track. The track layout was updated a few days before the event to better suit the high-speed modified touring cars. The event saw the running of a total of four classes including Touring Car Modified and Stock as well as two oval classes. Current standings leader and reigning Japanese Modified Touring Car Champion Akio Sobue (Tamiya) made a clean sweep this weekend by dominating from the first practice on. Akio would then take the TQ and also the A-final win in front of round four winner Jin Sawada (Yokomo) and local star Kyoichi Matsumoto. With his fourth win this season Akio is now in a strong position to take the overall title in the Modified class.
