Akio Sobue makes it two in a row at Speed King Tour

The 2016 Speed King Tour continued with round 2 held at the GP-1 circuit in the Tochigi prefecture. The event marked the maiden outing for the series at his indoor tarmac track that offers high-bite and high-speed conditions for the drivers. 2013 “Speed King”, Yugo Nagashima took the TQ honours in the Modified class with his Yokomo from VBC driver Hayato Ishioka in second and opening round winner Akio Sobue (TRF) in third.

The seven minutes Modified A-main saw Yugo jumping into the lead and making a gap on the second placed driver but a mistake of Yugo in lap 6 promoted Jin Sawada into the lead while Akio moved up to second place. In what was an outstanding battle of Jin, Akio, and Yugo, Jin made mistake hitting Akio but the latter came out on top of the tangle and in the lead that he would then hold until the end of the race. Behind the TRF driver Jin finished second and Hayato got third.
