Schumacher BTCC Rd6 – Report

Schumacher BTCC Rd6 – Report

This past weekend it was time to visit the Stafford circuit in the Midlands for round six of the Schumacher BTCC. Saturday saw some drivers turn up to try and get some practice and get their cars set to their liking, however they managed to get a few runs between the rain showers until a huge downpour ended things in the afternoon. Sunday morning drivers were greeted by a damp race track and showers on and off throughout the day. Stafford’s John Robson and Schumacher’s Mark Musgrove gave the drivers briefing and explained the details for the day. This was the regular format of round by round qualifying, with two from four rounds to count. The Modified class was unfortunately low on entries, due to some of the top drivers away on duty at the Worlds event in China and also due to there being no Modified National event this year at the track. However for the drivers that were there, they had a great time and enjoyed themselves. It was Olly Jefferies who would TQ all four rounds and line up on Pole ahead of David Hall and Marcus Askell.

In the 13.5 class it was extremely close between Zak Finlay, Andy Murray and James Hart. After three rounds of qualifying all three drivers had a first and second in round so it was all down to the final round to decide the grid. Zak TQ’d the fourth round so would line up on Pole ahead of Andy and James. In the 17.5 class it was also very close between local driver David Hough, Paul Coleman, Adrian Sully and Michael Ball. Just one point separated all four drivers so the finals were shaping up to be close.

In the Modified class it was Olly Jefferies who conserved his qualifying performance to take the day’s win from Marcus Askell and David Hall. Ben Gayson would round out the final.

13.5 Boosted had Zak Finlay coming out fastest at the end of the day. James Hart grabbed the runner-up spot in the A-main while Andrew Robson completed the top 3 result.
