Mike Gosvig takes Danish 4WD Buggy National Champs

Mike Gosvig takes Danish 4WD Buggy National Champs

Round six of the Danish 1/10th Electric Off-road Nationals was held at the new RC Royal track. The opening 4WD qualifier went to Mike Gosvig in front of Frederik Hovgaard while the latter would come out fastest in front of Mike in Q2. The third and final qualifier was again won by Frederik while Mike suffered electronic problems, only allowing him to take the P2 on the grid. With revised electronics Mike started into the opening A-main and right from the start he was able to put a lot of pressure on the leader who made a mistake in lap 7, allowing Mike to pass and to ultimately take the win from Frederik Hovgaard and Kim Nielsen.

For the second main the rain arrived and flooded the track. Frederik was able to bring home the win in the leg after Mike’s buggy setup cost him some much needed steering. Young Anders Aaagard completed the top 3 result for now.

Going into the final leg Mike knew that, even if Frederik wins, it would be hard for Hovgaard to beat Mike’s “dry” first leg time. Right at the start of the final Gosvig got hit from behind, sending him dead last but he was able to recover and after two laps he was already third again. Later Mike was able to also get past Frederik on the inside of the table top and he was now right behind leader Jesper. The latter was very slow on the straight because of the rain tyre and he got unintentionally hit by Mike. In great sportsmanship Mike let Jesper by again but soon after Rasmussen made a mistake that in turn allowed Mike to grab the lead. From that moment on Mike never looked back to take the win and with it the overall victory from Frederik Hovgaard and Anders Aagaard.

4WD final results:
1. Mike Gosvig – Xray
2. Frederik Hovgaard – Yokomo
3. Anders Aagaard – Xray
4. Kim Nielsen – Schumacher
5. Jesper Rasmussen – Associated
6. Jan Larsen – TeamC
7. Mathias Skaarup – Schumacher
8. Michael Hovgaard – Yokomo

The win also secured Mike Gosvig the overall 4WD title with one round to spare and so the fight for the vice-championship is now on between Jesper and Frederik.
