Cameron Zammit wins at Victorian State Titles

Cameron Zammit wins at Victorian State Titles

Last weekend the 2016 Victorian State Titles were held at the Keilor Offroad RC Club in Keilor, Victoria, Australia. The event began with practice on Saturday with the track starting off dry but overnight rain forced the club to drop one qualifier on Sunday morning. For round one in 4WD, the track was still quite wet and it was Cameron Zammit who took the win while Q2 went to Ray Munday by one second. In round three, Cameron started behind Ray and was sitting behind him for almost the duration of the race. On the last lap Ray made a small mistake and Cameron went through, which gave him the win and the overall TQ.

In A1 Cameron had a great start and was off to a good lead with his aim being not to make any mistakes and it would work out as he finished with the win in A1. In A2 his aim was do the same, to be consistent with his driving, and ultimately he managed to win the Victorian Championship. Cameron also received the Top Junior title for the event.

In Truck Cameron TQ’d round 1 and 2 to take the overall TQ for the main finals, with a TQ in round three just cementing his dominant performance. In A1 Cameron got off to a good start and was able to maintain the lead to take the win. In A2 Cameron had some very close nose-to-tail racing with teammate Andrew Selvaggi for most of the duration but when Andrew made a small mistake, Cameron was able to pull away to take the win overall.
