MRC Speed Weekend – Report

This past weekend the MRC Speed Weekend was hosted by the Model Racing Club Vianen. Th first large indoor race of the season was held on a purpose-built track in a sports hall in Vianen near Utrecht, The Netherlands and it saw the running of the three classes of Touring 10.5T Blinky, Touring 17.5T using red Trackstar motors, and Formula 21.5T. The track was laid out using ETS carpet and the opening day saw free practice followed by controlled practice. In Touring 10.5 Robert Krens (Schumacher) would win the reseeding, based on three consecutive laps, from Eric Bresser (Xray)
 and Michel Peterse (Xray). Touring 17.5 had Wesley van Dijken (Xray) coming out on top from Rob Janssen (Team Magic) and Ronald Arts (Team Magic) while in the Formula class it was Jitse Miedema (Xray) who came out on top in front of Ruud Knoester (Xray) and Michel van der Velden (Xray).

The day day ended with two qualifiers while the final two rounds would be held on Sunday morning with the best two to count. Already during the opening qualifiers on Saturday there was a lot of close racing with a small mistake costing dearly especially due to the high traction offered by the spec Voltange 28 and Ride XR tyres. After the four rounds of qualifying it was Robert (Schumacher) sitting on top of the 10.5T class from Eric Bresser (Xray) and Bram Lagerwey (Xray) while 17.5T was lead by Rob (Team Magic) from Wesley (Xray) and Richard Arts (Team Magic). In Formula it was Jitse Miedema (Xray) on the top spot, Ruud Knoester (Xray) second and Martijn van der Heijden (Fenix) third.

Sunday afternoon, after the lunch break there were triple finals for everyone. All finals offered very close battles, nice fights and good sportsmanship. Ultimately in the Touring 10.5 class it was Robert (Schumacher) who took the win from Michel (Xray) and Bram (Xray).

In the Touring 17.5 class it was Rob (Team Magic) who grabbed the win from Wesley (Xray) and Richard (Team Magic).

In Formula it was Jitse (Xray) who confirmed his form to take the win from Ruud (Xray) an Martijn (Fenix).
