Mibosport Cup Rd3 – Report

The third round of the Mibosport Cup 2016/17 was held this past weekend with 208 entries for the four electric on-road and two off-road classes. The race kicked off the second half of the season and in the Touring Modified class it was Dominic Vogl with Kuba Šimurda and Oliver Havránek occupying top 3 spots after the qualifying. The first A-main primarily saw a battle between Dominic Vogl and Kuba Šimurda. Kuba tried to attack but Dominic, with his fast and precise driving, didn’t give Kuba a chance. At the end of the first leg, Kuba was losing almost two seconds to the first place while Oliver Havránek finished in third.


Oliver managed to join the battle for the top position in the second A-main, unfortunately he made a mistake allowing Nico Haider to move up to the third place. Dominic kept the first position until the checkered flag with Kuba Šimurda and Nico Haider behind. Dominic was in the lead in the third A-main as well when he made a mistake at the end of the race, moving down to the second place behind Kuba. The third place went to Oliver Havránek. Overall Dominic Vogl took the victory with Kuba Šimurda and Oliver Havránek completing the podium.

The qualifying of the Stock LRP class was won by Philipp Neudinger who was closely followed by Tom Krägefski. The first A-main was very dramatic from the very beginning when Philipp had to retire even before the race start due to technical issues. Tom Krägefski then took the chance and won the first leg with Rajki Balint and Oliver Havránek behind. The second A-main was won by polesitter Philipp who defended his position from Tom Krägefski. Rajki took the third position. The third A-main looked almost the same as the second one. Philipp had a good start and won ahead of Tom and Rajki. The overall win then went to Philipp Neudinger with Tom Krägefski and Rajki Balint behind.

Herbert Weber from Austria dominated the Formula class once again when he comfortably took the TQ ahead of Lukáš Hoch and Thomas Dvorszky. The first A-main was won by Herbert Weber in style as Lukáš Hoch and Peter Miko fought for the second place. Lukáš defended his place from Peter and took the second spot in the end ahead of Peter. Herbert again took the lead in the second A-main, this time closely chased by Lukáš Hoch. As an experienced driver, Herbert took the opportunity from Lukáš’s little mistake, opened a comfortable gap and won the second leg ahead of Lukáš and Peter Miko. Herbert then took the victory in the third A-main as well with Lukáš retiring from the race in the second lap. Thomas Dvorszky finished second with Peter Miko in third and so Herbert Weber took the overall win with Lukáš Hoch and Thomas Dvorszky completing the podium.

Tomáš Lipták took the TQ after the 1/12th scale class qualifying but it was Thomas Dvorszky who won the first A-main when he took the lead quite early after the race start. Tomáš Lipták then took the second place with Igor Lipták behind. The second A-main saw a nice battle between Tomáš Lipták, Aleš Pelikán and Wolfgang Reichel. Ultimately Tomáš grabbed the win ahead of Aleš and Wolfgang. The third A-main would decide the overall race winner with Tomáš and Thomas both having scored a victory. Tomáš Lipták had a good start and managed to keep Thomas and Aleš behind for the rest of the race, meaning the overall victory went to Tomáš Lipták with Thomas Dvorszky and Aleš Pelikán behind.

The 2WD Buggy pole position went to Martin Bayer while Hupo Hönigl finished second ahead of Martin Wollanka. Martin Bayer lost his lead early after the start of the first A-main allowing Hupo to take the P1 spot. Martin then made his way back and took the second position behind Hupo as Martin Wollanka came in third. Also the second A-main was very dramatic. The positions were changing all the time, and the winner would be decided by the tome. Ultimately it was was Martin Bayer who took the victory of the second leg ahead of Hupo and Martin Wollanka. The third A-main was then won by Martin Bayer with Hupo and Martin Wollanka behind, giving the overall result of Martin Bayer from Hupo Hönigl and Martin Wollanka in second and third respectively.

In the 4WD class Martin Wollanka took the TQ ahead of Martin Bayer and Hupo Hönigl. Hupo Hönigl though took the victory in the first A-main due to a contact between a battling duo of Martin and Martin. Martin Bayer then managed to take the second position with Aleš Bidovský occupying the third place as Martin Wollanka finished fourth. Polesitter Martin Wollanka didn’t keep the leading position ahead of Martin Bayer and finished second. Kája Novotný finished on the third position. The third A-main was very dramatic when the positions were changing lap by lap. Martin Bayer took the win in the leg ahead of Martin Wollanka and Kája Novotný and this meant Martin Bayer took another win this weekend from Martin Wollanka and Hupo Hönigl. The next round of the Mibosport Cup will be held on the 11th of February.
