Speed King Tour Rd2 – Report

The second round of 2017 Speed King Tour was held at the TM Circuit outdoor tarmac track in the Wakayama prefecture. Due to the track layout only the Touring Car Modified and Stock classes were held and the Oval class dropped for this round. Yokomo young gun Yugo Nakashima took the TQ in the Modified class from Infinity’s Akio Sobue in second.

Right from the start of the single 7-minutes Modified class A-final Yugo lead the race until the final lap when he clashed with Akio who had chased Yugo during the whole race. The two had to retire after the serious crash, promoting reigning national Touring Super Expert champion, Souta Goto (Yokomo) into the lead that he would hold onto till the chequered flag. Naoki Akiyama finished 2nd and ARC driver Kazushige Tomita took 3rd to round out the podium. In the Touring Stock class Masaki Tsuboi came out on top to take the day’s win. Round 3 of the Speed King Tour will be held at the RC Stadium in Sodegaura on the 4th of June.
