Belgian SCT Cup Rd1 – Report

For the second year in a row the season opening race of the popular Belgian SCT Cup was held in Zolder. The track was slightly revised, offering a greater flow and still an amazing grip level. In the Pro2 qualification, Géry Ledocq (Kyosho) would dominate, taking all rounds from Nicolas Evens (TLR) and Tom Vercarre (TLR). Fabio Cumps (Team C) in 4th and Stéphane Lecomte (Team Associated) in 5th achieve their best ever starting position in the series so far.

In the Pro4 class, Sam Puttevils (TLR) swept all qualification rounds to take the overall TQ from Sam Damman (TLR) and Nicolas Evens (TLR).

In the opening Pro2 A-main Nicolas took the win as Géry crashed after the quad in the opening stages and he dropped to dead last but ultimately he was able to recover to a 2nd place thanks to a blistering pace. As a proof of his higher speed, Géry then took clean wins in A2 and A3 to take the overall victory. Behind him, Tom and Nicolas ended up in 2nd and 3rd in those rounds to complete the podium.

Pro2 top 3 results:
1. Géry Ledocq – Kyosho
2. Nicolas Evens – TLR

In A1 of the Pro4 class and after not much of a challenge, Sam Puttevils would come out fastest ahead of Nicolas Evens and Sam Damman. The second leg though was a much intenser affair as Sam and Nicolas crossed the finish line less than a second apart. The third and final leg is ever closer between the two Sam’s, with Eric Clerix in 3rd. Overall Sam Puttevils would take the win from Nicholas and Sam Damman.
