Xray Racing Series Italy finale – Report

The final round of the Xray Racing Series Italy was held at the Gianni Modellismo track in Rome. Classes run were Touring Modified, Touring Pro Stock, Touring Stock and Formula. In the Touring Modified class it was Alessio Menicucci who set the pace in the hot and low traction conditions in front of Simone D’Ottavio and Nicola Marrone. In the finals Alessio confirmed his qualifying performance by laying down mistake-free runs to take the overall win from Simone and Nicola who both fought for the overall runner-up spot but it was Simone who prevailed to take the 2nd spot on the podium.

In the Touring Pro Stock class Alessio Valentini took the TQ from Flavio Buzi, Valter Cola and Nico Catelani. The latter three drivers were very close, separated by less than 0.05 seconds. Valentini confirmed his pace in the finals as he took the overall win from Valter Cola who was able to take the 2nd place in front of Flavio Buzi after a tight fight.

The Touring Stock class saw the attendance of a lot of young drivers but ultimately it was Alessandro Bagagli who made better use of the used tyres in the finals to keep pole sitter Flavio Anelli behind in 2nd place. Marco D’Onofrio would round out the top 3 results.

With the Rome track being home for many F1TA series drivers the Formula class was hotly contested. Fabio Domanin took the pole position for the finals with Magnocavallo in 2nd place and Giorgio Alberto in 3rd. In the finals a tyre damage made Domanin slow down with Magnocavallo winning the race followed by Cardelli and Maciocchi.
