ARC R11 2018 electric touring car kit

ARC have introduced the 2018 variant of their popular R11 1/10th 4WD electric touring car kit. The car utilises some subtle changes compared to the previous version, such as a new carbon fibre chassis and topdeck whose high-grade graphite material and refined manufacturing process will ensure maximised flatness and an optimised balance between hardness and flexibility. The kit is prepared for the direct use of the recently introduced SRS super response servo whose integrated mounts will make for a 10g weight saving compared to the standard mount. Also new and possibly the biggest change for the 2018 kit are all-new front and rear suspension mounts that now allow to use inserts to adjust the toe settings while also allowing to fine-tune the track width. A total of nine different settings are accessible while the roll centre adjustment is still carried out using shims to raise or lower the suspension mounts and thus arm pins.

To make the best out of the new suspension design the 2018 kit also includes an updated rear shock tower and the rear 42.5mm driveshafts allow to run even very narrow track width settings while the 7075-T6 alloy material ensures high durability and a lightweight drivetrain. While being at the subject of the drivetrain, the R11 2018 comes with two different centre pulleys with the standard version being a 19T variant for an internal ratio of 2.0 while the optional 20T pulley, that is also included, allows to run a 1.9 internal ratio for smoother power supply and higher top speeds. Both belt pulleys are made of hard-anodised 7075-T6 aluminium. To further scrub weight the kit comes with 7075-T6 aluminium turnbuckles and ball ends. The kit is rounded out by hard compound front and rear A-arms, steering knuckles and rear hubs while the C-hubs are included in the slightly softer standard compound. As usual ARC will be releasing a full kit, that is expected to kit stores by mid-September, and for R11 2017 owners the company will also offer a conversion kit containing the chassis and top deck, rear shock tower, suspension mounts with inserts and alloy rear driveshafts to upgrade existing 2017 kits.
