BRCA Formula Nationals Rd1 – Report

The first round of the new revamped BRCA Formula indoor nationals took place last Saturday at the Tamworth RC Club. The new format is bringing the Formula nationals to club nights to visit different clubs and ensure more visibility of the class around the country and providing some support for the different clubs. For the first meeting 18 drivers, with some new faces, showed up. This year the championship is running round by round qualifiers. The first round was won by Luke lee (Xray) followed by Ben Cosgrove (Team Associated) and Craig Nutting (Roche). On the second one the top two guys keep the rhythm and Ollie Payne (Roche) went for third. For the last qualifier Ollie and Ben exchanged positions with Luke winning the round again.

For the finals this year the BRCA Formula Indoor Nationals is using the same format as during the summer outdoors with two independent finals counting for the final results. Podiums and trophies are awarded by adding the points of both finals. The first final started really clean despite the tight track, and this shows the high level of the top drivers in the class. After a few laps Luke was able to open a gap with Ben while Ollie had some issues that allow Craig to claim third despite Ollie’s final efforts.

The second final show again Luke Lee opening a gap while Ben and Ollie were fighting for second, resulting in Ollie second and Ben third. There was also a great battle between Craig and James Wright for the 4th position that finally ended in James.
