Dimitris Fotinos wins Greek XRS Off-road Rd1

The opening round of the Greek Xray Racing Series Off-road was held at the Fanatix Racing Track recently. The event saw the running of a sole 2WD Buggy class and had last year’s 4WD Greek champion, Dimitris Fotinos, setting the fastest lap in qualifying. Starting from 2nd on the grid was last year’s 2WD Greek champion Amaksas while on-road specialist Dimitris Ioannidis secured P3 at his maiden off-road outing.

The opening A-main saw Fotinos setting the pace and he would also bring home the win with a 4-seconds gap over Sikianakis and Katexakis. A2 again saw Fotinos leading from tone to tone with the battle for the runner-up spot being on between Ioannidis and Amaksas with the latter making a mistake three laps before the end, allowing the young driver to take the 2nd place with last year’s 2WD Greek champion behind him. In the last leg, Fotinos led from the start but a mistake in the closing stages gave Ioannidis the chance to close the gap and have a decent battle, but Fotinos again came out on top, leaving behind Ioannidis in 2nd place overall as Katexakis rounded out the podium result.
