Andy Murray takes BRCA GT12 National Championship

Round 3 and 4 of the GT12 BRCA National Championship was held last weekend hosted by the Chippenham Model Car Club in Wilshire. With this year’s format being two rounds of the series per weekend, one on Saturday and one on Sunday there was a lot to play for and it was championship leader, Andy Murray that would take pole position followed by new 1/12th European Champion Ollie Payne. The A-final went down to the wire with a close run battle between Andy and Ollie. A small mistake from Andy allowed Ollie to take the round 3 win, from Andy and his teammate Ben Vincent completing the podium.

Sunday would see the same layout but run in reverse. This time it was a day long battle for TQ between five drivers, Ben, Andy, Ollie, Adam. Only three seconds would separate the four of them, but once again, Andy came out on top for his fourth straight pole position. Adam Catchpole would line up alongside him this time in second place.

In the A-final, Andy would open out a 1-second gap in the opening few laps and maintain this to control the race out front. Meanwhile, a super close race long battle commenced where Ollie managed to slip by Adam in the final laps for second leaving Adam to complete the podium, crossing the line only 0.1 second behind, capping a fantastic race between the two of them.

With wins in three out of the first four rounds and pole at all four rounds, Andy Murray has already wrapped up his first BRCA National Championship, with two rounds to spare.
