Speed King Tour Rd2 – Report

The second round of the 2018 Speed King Tour was hosted by the TM Circuit Wakayama in the Japanese Wakayama prefecture last weekend. The event was held in Touring Modified and Stock classes with the Oval category not being run this time due to the track layout. In the Modified class Super Pole session, track owner Kazushige Tomita took the TQ with his Tamiya in front of Infinity’s Akio Sobue and young Yokomo driver Satoshi Bando.

At the start of the 5-minute single Modified A-main Kazushige showed an unfortunate error in the opening lap which promoted Akio and Satoshi into the top 2 positions as Kazushige settled for 3rd. Up front Akio was able to steer clear of Satoshi to bring home the win in front of Bando 2nd and Destiny driver, Yugo Nagashima in 3rd. Overall in the championship it is now Kazushige with the lead from Yugo, who is only two points behind.

Over in the Stock class A-main Hiroyuki Ueda brought home the win from Naoya Morita 2nd and Nobuaki Takagi 3rd. The next round of the Speed King Tour will take place at the RC Stadium Sodegaura outdoor tarmac track in the Chiba prefecture on the 3rd of June.
