Danish IC Track Championship Rd3 – Report

Last weekend the third round of the Danish Nitro On-road Championship was held at the technical track of the Greve RC Center. In the premier 1/8th category it was Martin N.O Hansen who set the pace, by scoring a new lap record and claiming the TQ position after winning the four qualifying rounds. Henrik Christensen lined up in 2nd and Morten Nielsen had to settle for the 3rd spot after the qualifiers.

Going into the 30-minute final Martin N.O looked unbeatable, but Bo Nielsen had set a high pace and was pushing Martin until the second round of stops, when his rear belt broke. This allowed Martin N.O Hansen (ARC/Novarossi/Contact) to take the win six laps in front of Henrik Christensen (Shepherd/Novarossi/Contact) in 2nd and Morten Nielsen(Xray/Novarossi/Contact) 3rd. With the DNF of Bo Nielsen is now a 3-horse battle for the overall title, going in to final round in September on the high speed track in Næstved.

In the 1/10th 200mm class it was Claus Ryeskov who set the pace, by claiming the TQ position after winning the four qualifying rounds. Lars Stub-Holm lined up in 2nd and Lars Bo Larsen had to settle for the 3rd spot after the qualifiers. Going into the 30-minute final Claus looked to finish like he started as Lars Stub-Holm was last on the grid because of a technical problem, but he was on a high pace and closing in on Claus just before the pit stops, Lars took the lead and did not look back. This allowed Lars Stub-Holm (Xray/Orcan/Matrix) to take the win four laps in front of Claus Ryeskov (Xray/Orcan/Contact) in 2nd and Rene Kellerup (Infinity/Orcan/Matrix) 3rd. With this win the race for the overall title will be between Lars and Claus.

Thanks to Martin Hansen for the report.
