AWS 2019 Rd2 – Report

The second round of the AWS 2019 was held at North West Nitro in the UK this past weekend with 55 drivers in attendance. The day kicked off with a round of practice followed by three rounds of qualifying in the same order as the practice round. With the track starting to dry out and the lap time becoming faster and more consistent, the fight for the top spots in the meeting was really good. With three rounds of qualifying completed just after 1pm it was Jon Howells with the TQ from Wez Jolly while the third place was taken by Peter Jones. Buggy was different as after three rounds of qualifying it was Lloyd Pitt with the TQ from local driver Chris Sharpe-Simkiss and John Isherwood.

The Buggy A-final was a very good race and the standard of driving was fantastic. Some really good battles going on throughout the race and in the end local driver John Isherwood took the win. 2nd place was another local boy, Chris Sharp-Simkiss. 3rd place was taken by Colin Brennan as Matt Bridge took 4th place.

Plenty of action and plenty of close racing was going on in the Truggy A-main. However after 15 minutes it was Jon Howells with the win from Wez Jolly in 2nd and Carl O’Connor in 3rd.
