Round 1 of the Notts and Derby Model Raceway Spring Series was held this past weekend in damp and cold conditions. Neil Cragg was the man to beat all day, taking the TQ after the qualifiers and also the win in the 15-minute A-main, leaving behind Kieran Cox with a 2-laps margin. Lewis Marshall came in 3rd, some 25 seconds short of Kieran.

Round 4 of the Danish Electric on-road national was hosted by the Birkerod Radio Control Club this past weekend. Touring Super Stock attracted 22 entries and saw Xray’s Kevin Nielsen making a clean sweep in the qualifiers and he also came out on top in the triple A-mains for the overall. Frederik Brolos Mikkelsen (Awesomatix) and Patrick Folman (Xray) rounded out the top 3.
T-Works have introduced several titanium option parts for the popular PR Racing SB401 Type-R 1/10th scale 4WD off-road buggy. Available are a 105-pice set of UFO head screws, a titanium ball end set as well as a titanium turnbuckle kit. All parts are machined from high-quality 64 grade titanium that will help to reduce overall weight while being highly corrosion resistant. The turnbuckle set also includes a suitable wrench, making building and setup changes a breeze.
SWorkz have announced the release of their new Tornado 14T high-performance off-road clutch bell. Made from a special hardened steel and featuring a lightweight design, the clutch is about 25 percent lighter than a standard clutch bell while offering improved clutch shoe cooling for less fading in long mains. The clutch bell comes laser-etched for easy identification and it fits SWorkz and most other 1/8th off-road and single speed on-road GT cars.
Coming from PSM and made for the popular Tamiya TT-02S entry-level 4WD touring car are new low-profile SSBB GT shock towers. Available separately for the front and rear of the car, the shock stays are cut from high-quality 3.0mm carbon fibre and they are of an updated geometry to accept Tamiya’s SSBB shock absorbers and the latest generation of 1/10th GT body shells. The shock stays are a direct fit, they offer several shock and camber link mounting positions and include an aluminium hardware kit for mounting.

Jared Tebo and Spencer Rivkin will battle it out in the final round of racing at OCRC Raceway, California, to lift their first Reedy Race of Champions title. The penultimate round saw Tebo make the most of a pole start and move a step closer to the one title that has eluded him when he won the opening race ahead of Rivkin. Starting sixth on the grid it was an important 2nd for Rivkin as 3rd or lower would have ended his shot at winning the 25th running of the legendary race. Having gone into the round with an outside chance of clinching the title for a second time, unfortunately while Ryan Maifield delivered a win from 5th on the grid Tebo’s win cancelled out any potential gains ending the Yokomo driver’s 2019 challenge. The other race of the Round saw Tanner Stees take his first win of the event ahead of Michal Orlowski and outgoing champion Dustin Evans.

Jared Tebo has moved closer to his first ever Reedy Race of Champions title after the Tekno driver made up for a disappointing start to the final day’s racing by taking his 3rd win of 2WD in the fourth round. After giving up a win in the previous round, Tebo converted a 7th place starting position into a win over pole sitter Ty Tessmann and with two rounds to go he holds a 2-point lead over Ryan Maifield with Spencer Rivkin who is carrying a 5th sitting third. Also starting P7, Maifield added his fourth win of the event thanks in part to team-mate Ryan Cavalieri. Making a late mistake, the same place Tebo threw away his win in the previous round, this allowed Cavalieri to go to the front but the new Yokomo signing took a wide line that allowed Maifield back to the front for a win that keeps the former champion in the hunt. With the best starting position of the trio, starting third, Rivkin couldn’t respond to the pace of pole sitter Broc Champlin and had to settle for a P2 1.6-seconds back on his Associated team-mate. For defending champion Dustin Evans the round netted him a P4 from 10th, a result that effectively ends his hopes of a third title.

It is the final day of the Reedy Race of Champions at OCRC Raceway and racing got underway with important wins for defending champion Dustin Evans and Associated team-mate Spencer Rivkin. Evans opened the 3rd round of 2WD with a win from pole leading home fellow front row starter Tanner Stees to put his title hunt back on track after a difficult first round of 2WD yesterday. Starting from 6th on the grid, Rivkin took a significant win helped by a first lap pile up and a mistake from front row starter Lee Martin. The key result of the round was however that of Race 2. Points leader Jared Tebo would start on the front row alongside pole sitter Chris Sturdy while Ryan Maifield lined up 7th. Taking an early lead and looking on target to make it three from three to set himself clearly on target for his first ever Reedy Race title, with 2 laps to go the race took a turn with the first of two mistakes from Tebo. First the Tekno driver over jumped the table top on the penultimate lap ending up on his roof allowing Sturdy to go to the front but luckily for Tebo, Maifield also had issues on the landing. On to the last lap and under pressure from the Yokomo driver Tebo made another error dropping him to 3rd, a result that throws the 25th running of the legendary race wide open again. It was to be a tough start to the day for joint 4WD points leader Ty Tessmann who got a 6th for the round.
