Serpent Cobra SRX8 GTE 1/8th electric on-road kit

Serpent have announced the release of their new Cobra SRX8 GT 1/8th electric on-road kit for the growing 1/8th scale GT class. The car is based off of the SRX8-GT and was optimised to offer the lowest possible centre of gravity while allowing for lots of ground clearance for cornering, ensuring smooth driving characteristics and the highest possible cornering speed. The core of the car is a 7075-T6 aluminium chassis that utilises the minimum possible kick-up angle to comply with ROAR and IFMAR rules while aluminium suspension mounts ensure very wide caster angle, toe and anti-squat adjustments. Additional roll centre shims further increase the setting range while black and silver all-aluminium bulkheads, centre diff mounts, motor mount and motor plate create a very sturdy chassis backbone. The overall design enables the racer to extract the front and rear differentials as well as the centre spool in a matter of seconds while allowing for four different differential height positions.

Also new is an adapted and updated steering system originally found on the SRX8 off-road cars. Optimised for the lower caster angles and offering a low centre of gravity the steering system also utilises the existing Ackermann plates minimising the needs for new parts. Part of the steering assembly is also a new 1-piece steering servo mount made of high-quality aluminium.

Part of the chassis assembly is a new carbon fibre top deck construction that offers symmetrical flex characteristics while the dual battery compartments allow for easy battery mounting using hook and loop straps. Other features include bearing-supported anti-roll bars, pre-drilled weight balance mounting holes, adjustable rear arm lengths, insert-supporting lower arms, as well as 16mm shock absorbers, a rear diffusor and also fully adjustable body mounts. The car will hit stores very soon.
