Van Helmond sweeps Belgian EP Off-road Nats Rd7

The final round of the Belgian Electric Off-road Nationals was held in Zolder last weekend. The track and wet weather conditions were pretty challenging for the drivers and it was Wesley van Helmond who would lead the 23-entry 2WD Buggy class in the opening two qualifiers for the overall TQ from Wouter Wynen in 2nd. The finals then saw again Wesley holding the upper hand and with wins in A1 and A2 he would take the day’s win from Wouter Wynen and Jonas Martens in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Over in 4WD Buggy it was Rik Haemers with the overall TQ while Wesley van Helmond suffered some corner speed issues but was able to take P2 on the grid for the triple A-mains. The opening A-main then saw Yolan De Weerd taking the win as Wesley and Rik had to settle for 2nd and 3rd. A2 then was a different affair with Wesley taking the win from Rock as Jonas Martens would complete the top 3. With a win of Rik in A3 the race brought a third winner in the 4WD Buggy A-main, meaning the win would be decided in the tie-breaker, handing Wesley the overall win from Rik in 2nd and Yolan in 3rd. Overall in the championship Wesley cemented his already claimed 2019 titles with the wins in 2WD and 4WD at the 7th and final round.
