X-Factory UK Winter Series Rd2 – Report

The second round of the X-Factory UK Winter Series took place this past Saturday in Watford, United Kingdom, with several new faces competing at this event too. A fast, but tricky track was laid by the DMS Model Car Club and after the four rounds of qualifying it was Mark Lewis (Team Associated) who would take the TQ in the 2WD class, followed by Kevin Hunt (Team Associated) in 2nd, Chris Delves (Schumacher) in 3rd, William Venebles (Team Associated) in 4th, Joe Renton (Team Associated) in 5th and Lee Hedges (Xray) in 6th. The remaining A-final spots would be filled from the bump ups via the lower finals.

In 4WD, TQ went to Nick Dale (Yokomo), Darren Boyle (LC Racing) was in 2nd from Oliver Szymanksi (Corally) in 3rd, Sam Breton (Corally) in 4th, Jonathan Szymanski (Corally) 5th, Stephen Blake (Team Associated) 6th and Ian Watson (Team C) in 7th.

On to the finals and the B-final was an excellent 5-way battle for the lead throughout the race. Gareth Cutting (Team Associated) with Mark Keen (Schumacher) coming from P4 to take the second and final bump to the A-main. Just missing out in 3rd was poleman Richard Miller (Yokomo) who was just half a second behind second place.

Next to run was the 4WD A-final, this was taken by Oli Szymanski (Corally) from 3rd on the grid. Darren Boyle (LC Racing) recovered from a poor start to take 2nd with Sam Breton (Corally) in 3rd.

The final race of the day was the 2WD A-final, poleman Mark Lewis (Team Associated) led the field away but an early mistake allowed Chris Delves (Schumacher) to come through and the hang on to take the win by the very smallest of margins from the recovering Mark Lewis (Team Associated) in 2nd and Joe Renton (Team Associated) completing the podium in third.
