2020 Greek 1/8th Off-Road Championship – Report

The 2020 Greek 1/8th Off-Road Championship was held at the Speed Track Renti in Renti, Athens this past weekend in Nitro Buggy and Electric Buggy classes. The one-off event saw a total of 31 participants for the nitro category, more than any other class so far for the 2020 Greek Nationals. In qualifying Tasos Paparegas (Xray) was able to take the pole position just five tenths in front of very fast and experienced Giannis Papanikolaou (Kyosho) with Panagiotis Terzis (Mugen) only another three seconds behind. In the main final it was Tasos Paparegas who would hold the upper hand, adding another championship to his belt with Giannis Papanikolaou finishing in a strong 2nd place and Alexandros Anapoliotakis (Tekno) finishing 3rd after making up a lot of ground in the final.

In the newly introduced 1/8th E-Buggy category twelve drivers battled it out for the championship. The competition was solid but both fast and experienced Alexandros Anapoliotakis (Tekno) and Giannis Perogiannakis (Mugen) proved to be the drivers to beat in the finals. Ultimately Anapoliotakis came out on top in front of Perogiannakis with Giorgos Abdel (Serpent) rounding out the podium with consistent driving.
