2020 Surf City Classic – Modified Report

The 2020 Surf City Classic was held last weekend at OCRC Raceway, with racers greeted with a fresh and challenging new layout put in for the event. Attracting some serious talent from around California as well as out of state, it was the young guns that shone. In 2wd, it was an all Associated podium as Broc Champlin won from pole position ahead of 2wd Reedy Open winner Aydin Horne in 2nd place, with World Champion Spencer Rivkin finishing in 3rd. 4wd saw this year’s Reedy Race Invitational winner Ryan Maifeld take the win in front of his JConcepts team mate and TLR driver Tom Rinderknicht, who won the 4wd Reedy Open class, in 2nd with Aydin Horne completing the podium in 3rd. The Mod Truck class win went to Aydin Horne, to complete a good weekend for the Factory Tracks Racing team driver, with Rivkin in the runner up spot just ahead of Reedy team driver Dustin Evans in 3rd.
