FSEARA Rd5 Coral Spring – Report

Round 5 of the FSEARA saw another strong 94 entries event at the Coral Spring RC club, The highest count for this season. Saturday’s practice was filled with lots of laps and tons of traction, The track was on fire, but Sunday was another day. Even though the perfect weather for racing, the cold air and wind brought on a new challenge. The mini wind storm blew all of the sand/dirt on the track resulting in an overall 1sec slower pace than Saturday. The Coral Spring Crew did the best to blow off the track between rounds to keep the condition as best as possible. Thank you to Chris Crowder on the mic keeping the program running smooth, we were able to complete 3 qualifying rounds and main this time.

The highlight of the battle for the weekend was for sure in 17.5 TC. Infinity Driver Dave Vera vs Newly borrowed Xpress driver Cory Parsons. Basically, battle nonstop from qualifying to the A main event. With Dave Vera having the faster car, after some unlucky Q1 and Q2, he was able to gap TQ in Q3. While Cory clearly has the more consistent car this time. With the start of the A Main, Cory pushed hard to pressure Dave and was able to get by for the lead after a small incident and got the luck on his side. With the battle heating up, 8th place Xray driver Troy Schafer was able to take advantage of all of the front runner’s mistakes, close in and battle for 2nd. Race continued with Cory Parsons checked out while Troy Schafer was able to overtake Cory Record in the end for 2nd. Dave Vera Came out short while Cory Record secure the podium

In Mod TC it was Xpress Driver Felix Law who won standing on top in this race. The battle to watch was 2nd and 3rd between Infinity Driver Dave Vera and Xray Driver Cory Record. For sure this time around, Cory Had the faster car and was able to start in front of Dave. In the A main, the darkness of sunset as well as the small rain took away most of the traction. The Xray driver was able to quickly pressure Felix Law at the start, but wasn’t able to maintain the pressure. While Felix’s Xpress XQ10 Checked out while Cory and Dave separated and finished with a huge gap. The running order is maintained till the end of the race.

In USGT the FWD vs 4WD Story continues. While Reuben Diaz represented the FWD pack pretty well, Eddie Shaffer and Jesus Diaz were in their own league. While Jesus had Q1, Eddie Shaffer had Q2. The last Qualifier decided all. With the better overall consistently, Eddie was about to take Q3. In the main, Eddie was able to stretch the lead to 8sec while Jesus had a bad start and came back to 2nd. Jim Sowa was also about to take advantage of the chaos to finish 3rd.

In 17.5 handout TC an all-new TQ was born. The Local hero Wesley Ramsdell was able out qualified your season winner Eddie Shaffer. With just started racing not too long ago, Rd2 was his first ever race. Now in Rd5, he was able to battle for TQ, pretty impressive. During the A main, Wesley traded battle with Eddie and Starling. He was able to maintain the lead but to only crash out himself and broke a rear hub. While Eddie had a fast car and was able to recover from a bad start. While Brandon drove a safe race end up 2nd. Starling had a chance for the lead at 1 point, but he lost it with a mistake and took himself out of the track and to recover for 3rd.

VTA saw a battle between the 3 drivers. The newly signed infinity Brandon Diaz, 3 racing Greg Ronjna and the old school Team Associated TC3 Jake Engstrom. But the edge goes to Brandon. The overnight build of the new car pays off big in this one. With Brandon and Greg’s intense battle in the A main. It was a good race to watch, and the gap stayed close most of the race, but in the end, Brandon held off for the Victory.

In GT12 the winner of Rd1 Jesus Diaz was not pressured this time around. Gaping the TQ. But the A main was intense. The gap closed with both Andy and Richard figuring out their car. following a train of all 3 cars. Andy was able to take advantage of Jesus’s mistake to get the lead. But later, a big spin out by Andy gave back the lead to Jesus. In the end. Jesus ends with a 4secs lead over Andy while Richard finishes 3rd round up the podium.

In F1 the Miami Nitro racer Lazaro put on a show again here without a challenge, the all-time series veteran Johnathan Hutton held on to second during qualifying. In the main, just when we see Lazaro checked out and an easy win, He went into some bad luck and crashed with lap traffic. With many of those incidents, Johnathan was able to put up a fight with Lazaro in the middle of the A main. Lazaro had to fight back to overtake Johnathan. In the end, Lazaro was able to win with 6secs ahead of Johnathan while Yuilen drove a clean race to finish the podium.
