BRCA Clubmans Rd3 WLRC – Report

Round 3 of the BRCA Clubman’s was hosted at West London Racing Centre in Hillingdon last weekend. The weather fortunately held out for this meeting with torrential rain predicted, which only arrived once some excellent racing had finished. With a very good entry of 43 drivers in the 17.5 Blinky class we were in for some close racing with many of the country’s top drivers present. Schumacher driver Andy Murray was the man to beat, but after taking 3 round wins he was proving unstoppable as he lined up P1 for the final. After 2 torrid A final legs it was a clean sweep for Andy making it a perfect day’s racing taking the win ahead of the Xray’s of Ben Cane and Soteris Lisai.

In the Frontie class Craig Nutting topped the time sheets in qualifying to take pole position for the 2 leg A finals. He would never look back as Mark Burgess and Gavin Clinch battled without for the second spot on the podium. It would be Mark that took that spot with Gav having trouble getting back past the rest of the pack after an earlier mishap with a corner.

Formula One saw Luke Lee take yet another pole position on the A final grid. This time his brother Michael would stop him from having the perfect qualifying session when he took the round 1 win in damp conditions. But once we had a dry track there was no stopping Luke, especially in the finals where he led both legs from flag to flag. Michael backed up his qualifying pace with 2 second places with James Greener following him home to round out the top 3.

WLRC put on yet another faultless meeting which ran like clockwork, we even finished and packed away before a thunder storm hit the track just before the presentations. Next up the BRCA Clubman’s travels East to the Monaco of RC tracks at Coastal Model Car Club in Ipswich.

Thanks to Mark Young for the report.
