Orlowski crowned GT12 European Champion

This past weekend saw Italy hosting the GT12 European Championship at the beautiful indoor facility of RC Landia in Scandiano. The race was held under the auspices of ACI Sport, the Italian Federation of R/C Model Cars and member of the FIA, and saw a solid participation of competitors from several countries. The race was run with the traditional BRCA regulation for GT12, the most popular in many countries such as the UK and Italy with specific GT12 model cars homologated for the class, 1s batteries, 13.5T motors, no timing ESC and homologated body shells. Furthermore, the choice of the organisers was oriented towards the use of control tires for the class and control additive.

During Saturday’s 6 qualifiers it was current IFMAR LMP Spec World Champion Andy Murray (Schumacher) leading the proceedings and taking TQ ahead of Michal Orlowski (Schumacher) and Mattia Collina (Schumacher).

After the qualifiers, 14-year old Daniel Robins (Schumacher) from the UK was also crowned GT12 Junior European Champion thanks to some impressive driving which was worth a place into the A-main too.

Finally, during Sunday’s finals it was great close racing across the field and especially in the A-main which saw a great battle for the top spot. Michal Orlowski rose to the occasion and took the GT12 European Title ahead of Mattia Collina and Andy Murray with a flawless drive.
