Mugen Seiki MBX8R Nitro buggy

Mugen Seiki have released the MBX8R buggy, the result of extensive testing and development by some of the best drivers in the world. The team spent a lot of time testing and developing the MBX8R geometry in race conditions throughout 2021, which lead to many major victories, with Ryan Maifield winning The Dirt Nitro Challenge, Silver State Nitro Challenge and ROAR 1/8th Fuel Nationals all in the same year. The MBX8R has many new parts to increase stability, rear traction, improved jumping, and have a wide tuning range. The buggy uses new narrow RF (C) and RR (D) pivot blocks with new pivot inserts for increased tune-ability. Further updates include longer box-shaped suspension arms and arm stiffeners, with the rear arm using an impact resistant material for increased durability. Adjusting the hardness of the lower suspension arms is possible with optional CFRP plates. The rear uprights are also new, the moulded uprights have CFRP plates to adjust rear roll centre. New front shock tower and upper front arm mount use new pivot inserts for increased tune-ability.

The MBX8R chassis features a slightly new design to accommodate the new suspension geometry. There is also a completely new 4 shoe clutch designed to be easy to work on and more tuneable. This clutch features a 34mm aluminium 4 shoe flywheel with removable steel pins. The new clutch has a unique way of adjusting spring tension to tune the engagement to suit your engine, track conditions and personal preferences to optimise fuel consumption and performance. Multiple clutch springs will be available as option parts and a new vented 13T clutch bell will be included in the MBX8R kit along with two aluminium and two carbon shoes in the kit.

High Traction Differentials are also included and provides increased acceleration, longer runtime and more consistent handling. The HTD’s also increase stability, traction and improve handling in bumpy conditions. Completing the updates there is a high downforce wing that allows more air to flow to improve jumping and the revised rear wing mount will provide additional downforce and increase durability.

Other new items included
– New S bent air filter boot and high-volume filter housing.
– New brake override and caliper springs for smoother more consistent braking.
– New 90-degree fuel tank fitting for cleaner fuel line routing.
– New sway bar collars to reduce sway bar movement.
– Emulsion shock caps are included in the MBX8R kit.
