Fire outbreak halts PRO10 European Cup 2026

Having amassed a very impressive field of Pro10 cars for the annual PRO10 European Cup, the organisers were dealt a seriously unlucky situation when a fire outbreak at a nearby tyre recycling plant forced the evacuate of the track.  Having attracted over 100 entries for the Mini Racing Team Essonne hosted race, whose track is located 25 kilometres southeast of central Paris in France, the fire would halt the event after 3 rounds of qualifying.  With 2018 1:12 World Champion Alexander Hagberg heading the entry, the Xray driver was the benchmark having set the TQ pace ahead of Britain’s Ollie Payne before the evacuation and doing so with a new track record and new track lap record.  Afterwards on social media the Swede was full of phrase for the event calling it ‘one of the most memorable weeks of racing in my career’.  Having not previously met about 80% of the drivers he added, ‘The Pro 10 group of guys are super cool and friendly.  There is a very open atmosphere, not brand/clique oriented as it is at TC events (sadly) these days.  It was very cool and refreshing to take part in this whole experience.’  The PRO10 Series posted that while feeling ‘immense disappointment’ at not being able to complete the event the days of racing had been a ‘truly unforgettable moment’ and vowing to ‘promise you one thing: the next PRO10 European Cup will be even bigger, even better and even more unforgettable.’ As part of the event there was a parade of all cars driving around the track at once with some carrying smoke flares – view here
