ETS season opener attracts full house

ETS season opener attracts full house

It is set to be a full house for the opening round of the 2014/15 Yokomo Euro Touring Series with over 350 entries from drivers around the world set to descend on the Sport-V-Hotel in the small Czech town of Hrotovice this weekend (5-7 December). Entering its eighth season, the weekend marks a significant milestone in the history of the World famous championship as it will be the 40th running of an ETS race. The fifth time the popular venue has played host to the championship, the race promotes Hrotovice to the most visited and longest serving location on the ETS calendar with the hall having undergone an extension since last year’s encounter creating room to build a larger track than before. Renewing their successful partnership with the championship’s founders Uwe Rheinard and Scotty Ernst, defending champion manufacturer Yokomo will continue as title sponsors for a fifth consecutive season and having won the season opener for the last four years the Japanese company will be hoping to maintain that form this weekend.

Teemu Leino continues with HB-HPI through 2015

Team HB have announced that Teemu Leino has extended his contract to drive for the HB racing team. A mainstay of Team HB since first signing with the team, the Finn is a European Champion in the electric touring car class but his focus is now 100% nitro, and he is one of Team HBs most versatile racers, racing at the top level in 1/10th nitro touring cars, 1/8th nitro track racing and 1/8th buggies. He has been instrumental in developing the HB R10, R8 and D812 and has been a great teammate for every member of Team HBs international factory team. In 2012, Teemu was TQ at the Worlds with the R10 nitro touring car, and Team HB is confident of more success for Teemu with the R10 and other HB racing cars.

I look forward to another season with HB-HPI Racing. They give me the best cars on the market for all my racing categories. Also, the team work is really great in Team HB. I look forward to another year working with great people and having some fun at the track. I want to say thanks to Tatsuro Watanabe and Hiroyuki Kasuya for this opportunity. See you at the races next year.

Together, Teemu and the entire HB factory and R&D team will help continue to develop and improve HB racing cars for more race wins and championships, not just for themselves but for all HB racers. We are very excited to see what Teemu can accomplish with the HB R10, R8 and the World Champion D812 in 2015.

Champion Vejrak to defend title from P4

Champion Vejrak to defend title from P4

After a below expectations qualifying, reigning World Champion Meen Vejrak will defend his 200mm title from 4th on the grid after the 1/4 Final qualifier won his Semi Final to bump up to the 1-hour Main at Huge RC Circuit in Bangkok, Thailand.  Starting from 9th on the grid, the KM Racing driver quickly moved his way to the front making a strong pass on fellow 2012 podium finisher Francesco Tironi at the 13-minute mark coming of the sweeper at the end of the straight. Behind, Mugen driver JJ Wang would finish 7.7 seconds in 2nd after a thrilling last minute battle with Tironi, the pair originally battling for the last direct bump up position until Peter Jovanovic had to make a splash & dash on the penultimate lap having been running second.  Although the Australian had to wait to see the race times of the second Semi, his pace, as was that of Yuya Sahashi who finished 5th, was good enough to give him one of the 3-fastest race time bump ups.

World Champion progresses to Semi

World Champion progresses to Semi

Defending World Champion Meen Vejrak is through to the Semi Finals at the 200mm World Championship but it would be a very tense closing minute & a half to the 1/4 Finals for the KM Racing driver.  Starting from pole position, due to a disastrous first day of qualifying, the Thai driver had control of the 20-minute encounter leading from man on a mission Peter Jovanovic but as the race reached the closing stages he would struggle to control his H-K1. A heavily loaded 10-car grid, Vejrak’s car would suddenly become nervous to drive, it clear to see he was struggling to keep it on four wheels.  Suffering a roll that would lose him over 4-seconds, he would get unlapped by the 3rd place battling pair of Martin Hudy and Robert Pietsch with fastest man on the track Jovanovic going to the front.  Tentatively trying to bring the car home, Vejrak would just hold on to finish second ahead of Hudy & Pietsch who such as the World Champion’s loss of pace managed to get the gap down to 2 seconds.  One more lap and the outcome could have been very different.  Afterwards a clearly relieved Vejrak would find out that the loss of a rear body clip had allowed the body to lift with the opposite side cutting into his rear tyre to cause his handling issues.
