SkyRC Toro X8T V2 1/8th truggy brushless motor

SkyRC Toro X8T V2 1/8th truggy brushless motor

SkyRC have introduced their new Toro X8T V2 brushless motor for 1/8th scale E-truggies. The 6-pole 1950kv motor is of a 18-slot stator design for improved torque while high-purity copper windings and ultra-thin 0.2mm stator laminations make for high efficiency, resulting in reduced heat built-up and longer run times. The sensorless motor utilises a machined T6 billet aluminium can with heatsink ribbing and it measures 42.2x74mm including said heatsink.

Pro-Line Ambush 4×4 1/25 mini scale crawler

Pro-Line Ambush 4x4 1/25 mini scale crawler

Pro-Line have introduced their new Ambush 1/25 mini scale crawler. The palm-sized vehicle features full-time four wheel drive with solid axles and true leaf spring suspension, allowing it to tackle even the toughest climb. A 3mm steel ladder frame forms the solid base for the transmission and suspension and the black oxide coating makes for long lasting protection against the elements. Sleek chassis-mounted bumpers cap off each end for added protection. Each corner of the truck has a 3-leaf pack with working shackles and attaches to plastic friction shocks that limit down travel. The truck comes factory assembled with a Micro Torque brushed motor, a G9000 micro servo and an integrated ESC/receiver with an open 3rd channel port allowing for unique customisation or future 3rd channel option parts. Included is also a full proportional 2.4GHz radio and the package is rounded out by an open rollcage bodyshell, available in three designs, and Mini Flat Iron tyres mounted on Denali wheels.

JConcepts B6-series Aero short chord rear wing

JConcepts B6-series Aero short chord rear wing

JConcepts have introduced the new B6-series Aero short chord rear wing. The new Aero wing has intriguing details, a leading edge that drops below the mounting point that acts in a scooping manner. What separates the new wing from the standard is the shorter deck length, otherwise known as the “chord length”. The shorter chord has less rear overhang allowing for quicker rotation in the 180 degree turns and will have less impact in gusty wind conditions or long aerial manoeuvres. The centre channel is just narrow enough for the B6 wing mount assembly but drops the wing at just the correct height and position. The side-dams feature large openings for tyre clearance and expansion. A forward gurney option gives drivers an adjustment that previously hasn’t been available in the class and clipped rear corners help minimise flex breakage which is so common on 1/10th off-road racing machines. The joint wing assembly includes two wing pieces suitable for both the B6 and B6D buggy.

Martin Wollanka signs with Hot Race Tyres

Hot Race Tyres have announced the signing of Austrian racer Martin Wollanka to their team. The factory Xray left former long-termn tyre sponsors Pro-Line right before this year’s European Championships and he will be using Hot Race Tyres’ range of competition tyres from now on. Martin has the following to say about the deal:

It was time to chance some things after around 10 years with Pro-Line tires, so I looked for another option. I start to test Hot Race Tyres some months ago and Iwas really impressive how they working fine on my Xray car. I drove very good laptimes and constant too. I was also impressed by the always equal quality of the tires, and the quick adaptation of any condition of the track and temperatures during the races. Nicola showed the potential of its product in on road, now becoming one of the pioneers of the On Road industry, and I want to help him to show it in offroad too! I’m already know it. I’m happy to be part of the Hot Race team.

Henri Fredriksson takes Finnish 1/8th IC Track title

The fourth round of the Finnish 1/8th On-road national series was recently held at the Kuovola track. Good weather allowed a very nice and fair weekend of racing and after the qualifiers it was Teemu Saarinen who started from the top spot into the main final followed by Henri Frederiksson, Tomi Mairue and Tony Raikas. In the first minutes of the main final Teemu pulled away from the field until he hit a slower car. After this incident there was a great battle for the lead between Tomi and Henri. At the end Tomi won the race with Henri Fredriksson in second and Tony Raikas completing the podium. For Henri the second place was good enough to secure himself the 2016 overall Championship title.
