2016 Reedy TC Race of Champions - Announcement

Team Associated have announced the 2016 Reedy Touring Car Race of Champions to take place from the 26th to 29th of May. The annual event will return to the newly resurfaced Tamiya America circuit and entries will open February 24th at noon PST exclusively here. Due to time constraints and to maintain the world-class nature of the event, total entries are capped at 170 for the Open classes of 13.5T, 17.5T and Modified with each driver limited to one entry. To allow everyone an opportunity to be a part of the 2016 instalment, a lottery drawing for the Open classes will be conducted on March 21st, with those chosen securing a place in the event. Information and updates including, entry, rules, spec tires, hotels, and more will be posted soon here.

2016 International Carpet Challenge – Free practice

The 2016 International Carpet Challenge kicked off today at the Essex Winter Series venue in the south-east of the UK. Boasting the largest entry in its three-year history, the cream of UK talent are joined by a number of drivers from across Europe. With an evening of practice to get used to the fresh track layout, laptimes tumbled as the drivers got to grips with the unique EWS track. The pace in the Modified class was set by current UK National Champion Elliott Harper. Elliott described his Schumacher as “really good”, he will leave the car as it is for tomorrow’s controlled practice to see how the grip level changes overnight.

Team Associated have introduced the Reedy SC1000-DB sensorless brushless speed controller. Splash-proof for maximum durability, its robust design installs in most 1/8th buggies, truggies, and monster trucks and it comes pre-wired for two batteries and features individual low voltage cut-off circuits for protection from over-discharge and improved safety. On the motor side of things the speedo comes factory-wired with 4mm gold-plated connectors.

Pro-Line Pro-Spline HD rear axles

New from Pro-Line come the Pro-Spline HD rear axles for the Pro-2 SC and Slash 2WD with ProTrac kit. The Pro-Spline HD technology debuted on the Pro-Line Pro-MT kit and is designed to handle some serious power. Made from hardened black oxide coated steel, the drive shafts have a true 6-sided spline that slides smoothly throughout the suspension travel without having to worry about stripping out like the stock plastic drive shafts. The pins are held in place by zinc coated snap rings and M3 set screws on both ends. The drive shafts also fit the Stampede and Electric Rustler kits.

Coming from Axial are two new Score Trophy Truck bodyshells for the Yeti Score Trophy Truck. First up is the TT-380 Score Trophy Truck body that is modelled after current OEM truck styling trends. It sports a sweeping roof line, flowing surfaces defined by crisp edges, pronounced wheel arches and geometric defined undercuts in the lower rockers, giving the body that modern day look. The front grill and light bucket assemblies continue with the modern look with sharp distinct lines and integrated LED mounts within the light buckets. The body can used with or without rear roll cage assembly but running the body without roll cage assembly requires the use of optional rear body mount included in the Yeti Score Trophy Truck along with not cutting out the back of the body. The body comes clear, including decal sheet and moulded cage details.

Protoform TLR22 3.0 Predator body & Champion wing

Pro-Line have introduced the Predator bodyshell for the TLR22 3.0 as well as the 6.5″ Champion rear wing. Starting with the body, the Predator design debuted with the B5M body and was reshaped to fit TLR’s latest 1/10th 2WD buggy. It takes design features from the Phantom and Type-R bodies to create a whole new look and balanced performance in any condition. As usual the body come clear, including window masks and a decal sheet. Also new is the 6.5″ Champion 1/10th buggy rear wing. First debuted at the 2016 Reedy Race of Champions it took home the Championship win in the hands of Dakotah Phend. It features a very simple flat wing design that will fit all current 1:10 buggies and is made from a medium thickness Lexan that is thicker and more durable than stock wings. The sides of the Champion wing are shaped to avoid interference with the rear tyres and the rear of the wing is curved for maximum stiffness and durability.

Novarossi introduce new GT & Rally engines

Italian company Novarossi have four new 1/8th GT and Rally engines available. First up is the Mito 35 GT5, a 5-port engine based on the Mito 35 World Champion. The long stroke engine features the standard central aluminium carburettor and it comes with all-steel ball bearings and 9mm venturi insert.

Xray XB4 lightweight bodyshell

Xray XB4 lightweight bodyshell

Coming from Xray and made for the XB4 4WD buggy is a lightweight bodyshell. Moulded from thin Lexan material the body is around 40 percent lighter than the standard kit body and it is recommended for the use on high-bite tracks as it will lower the buggy’s centre of gravity and make for more agile rotation into corners while at the same time a rear fin will help with stability on high-speed sections. The body comes clear and including window masks.
