The final round of 2014 Speed King Tour was held at the Crest Speedway indoor carpet track in the Gunma prefecture. In the Touring Car Modified class, TRF young gun Akio Sobue lead the championship going into the final round from last year’s Speed King Yugo Nagashima. After three rounds of qualifying Akio took the overall TQ from VBC driver Yugo who scored a round TQ but missed the pole position.

From RB come two new LiPo receiver battery packs for the use with nitro on-road and off-road vehicles. Available in two specifications as straight-type 2100mAh and hump-style 1500mAh variant the packs are light of weight with 86g for the straight and 55g for the hump pack, yet powerful enough for hour long mains. The Race for the VETTS was hosted by the T&T Speedway indoor facility in Shreveport, LA with the event attracting drivers from the Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana region. With 23 entries the 2WD Modified Buggy was the largest class in the field of almost 80 total entries. Qualifying was based on your one fastest of three runs. Eric Hodge TQ’d 2WD Mod Buggy, being the only buggy driver to put in a 20 lap run. The 8 minute, 10 car A-final was pretty stacked with names like Larry Pryor and Mugen Seiki driver Drew Spurgeon. Overall the main was pretty uneventful and “a racers dream” for Eric as he put in a near flawless run to take an unchallenged tone to tone victory.

Coming from Schelle Racing Innovations and made for the Team Associated B44.3 buggy is the carbon fibre shorty LiPo battery strap. The part is cut from 2.5mm USA-made carbon fibre and a direct replacement for the kit’s plastic unit, keeping the easy to use pivot ball and twist knob for removing the battery to charge. The strap weighs only 4.7g and it comes including a Schelle mini decal.

After releasing the VX 540-size electric brushless motors Reds Racing now introduce a dedicated series for 1/8th scale racing. The V8 are specifically designed 1/8th off-road motors to provide exceptional power, superior smoothness and control in combination with high efficiency and a low temperature operation. Coming with a highly finned CNC-machined aluminium can for improved heat dissipation the motor is capable of both sensored and sensorless operation and available in two KV options of 1900KV and 2100KV.

In a week that lets Formula 1’s “silly season” look like a kindergarden Xray announce that the Slovakian company and French factory team driver Renaud Savoya are ending their professional relationship. Xray’s Juray Hudy states that both parties split in a friendly way.

HPI/HB announce that IFMAR World Champion Ty Tessmann has signed with HB for another 2 years, to the end of 2016. A longtime member of Team HB and backed by his father Gord and mother Leann, Ty is a dominant force in off-road racing an his progression through the ranks has been steady and unceasing as he raced with the biggest names in RC racing. Everyone at Team HB and HPI Racing would like to thank Ty for his continued commitment and congratulate him for his recent World Championship win. This is what Ty has to say about the deal:
