MCD Racing X-Snap 2-speed gear box

Coming soon from MCD Racing is their new X-Snap 2-speed gearbox for the company’s line of large scale on-road and off-road vehicles. The gearbox allows to reach higher speeds without compromising low speed torque while an adjustable shift point ensures the gear box can be tuned to different track sizes and layouts. The 2-speed gear box is available separately for on-road and off-road kits and it consists of a total of three order packs. First is the Transmission Kit which is factory assembled, the second is the Gear Pack which consists of the respective on-road or off-road set and the third pack is the Clutch Bell Pack where owners choose either the standard or the Pro-Bite clutch bell. The gear box set, that requires some DIY to parts such as the radio tray, will become available from September.

Patrick Fankhauser wins at Swiss IC Track Nats Rd3

In the 200mm class and on Friday’s practice it was Xray’s Patrick Fankhauser with the fastest time, some 0.2 seconds ahead of teammate Traugott Schär. During Saturday’s qualifiers however Patrick ran into some issues caused by the high temperatures and so he only qualified in 4th place behind Thilo Thödtmann, Niclas Scherrer and Traugott Schär. In the 30-minute main final it was at first Shepherd’s own Thilo Tödtmann who lead the race, however he ran into technical issues at about the 20-minute mark that promoted Patrick, who had to recover from a collision in the opening stages, into the lead that he would hold onto until the checkered flag. Some seven laps behind Fankhauser it was Xray driver Michael Schäfer on the runner-up spot as Jakob Bühler (Xray) rounded out the top 3 results.

RCMC Singapore GP Nationals Rd4 – Report

The East Coast Race Track played host to round four of the RCMC Singapore GP Nationals last weekend. Finally Singapore gave everyone perfect weather with plenty of drivers and some exciting on track action. With 1/8th GP, GT, 1/10th GP and 1/5th scale racing, it wasn’t going to be a boring day for the spectators and racers alike. For 1/5th and 1/10th racing the organisers decided to try a new format for finals, where the final would be split into two 15-minute sprints, instead of the usual single 30-minute final. Similar formats are being used on the European Continent with a view to make the racing more exciting, and less of an Endurance style race. This would make qualifying even more important than usual for these classes.
