Ielasi Tuned .28 3 & 7-ports monster truck engines

Hot on the heels of Ielasi Tuned’s new .21 off-road engines come the 3 and 7-ports .28 nitro monster truck power plants. Developed after many requests especially from the United States, the engines come with pullstart or rotorstart systems and they are a drop fit for most 1/8th trucks.

Flash Point R/C FP01 nitro off-road engine

Flash Point R/C have announced the release of their new FP01 nitro off-road engine. The power plant uses a long stroke design that provides exceptional power and fuel consumption, making it the ideal choice for use in nitro buggy and truck applications thanks to lots of low to mid-range torque. The 3-power engine is fitted with a lower centre of gravity cooling head, a silicone-filled crankshaft with tungsten counterweight and a reliable 21J carburettor with 7mm restrictor. The engine is available in several configurations including variants with full steel ball races or ceramic main bearing and it comes as engine only or including the FP2500 tuned pipe.

JConcepts 1:8 Spring Nationals – Report

HobbyTown USA’s HobbyPlex played host to the 2018 JConcepts 1:8th Spring Nationals this past weekend. The HobbyPlex is no stranger to big races. In year’s past, HobbyPlex has hosted some of the biggest, elite-level races in the nation including the 1/10th ROAR Electric Nationals in 2016 and in July the 2018 ROAR 1/8th Electric Nationals in July. Without a doubt, the versatile HobbyPlex is a genuine racer’s favorite hosting multiple tracks including scaling, 1/8th offroad, 1/10th offroad, carpet on road, and even drone racing. Now in its 9th year, the JConcepts Spring Nationals always adds excitement to the Plex with regional, top-level talent racing for the win in 1/8th scale nitro, electric, and 1/10th 4×4 SCT. This year’s layout was a slightly modified layout of the existing layout to better suit the bigger 1/8th buggies and truggies and one thing for sure, it didn’t disappoint.

Ielasi Tuned Hummer 5T & 7T V2 off-road engines

Ielasi Tuned have introduced their new Hummer 5T and 7T V2 nitro off-road engines. Starting with the Hummer 5T, the newly developed engine was designed with optimised run time in mind, ensuring exceptional mileage while providing amble power for a variety of track layouts and conditions. As for the updated Hummer 7T V2, the 7-ports power plant received an updated backplate for increased bottom end power while retaining the top speed and mileage of the previous version. Both engines are available now.

Yokomo RP series machined titanium motor screws

Coming from Yokomo and made for their Racing Performer series of brushless motors are machined titanium screws. While saving weight the screws also have less influence on the magnetic field of the motor, compared to the standard steel fasteners, which results in increased RPM, enhanced agility and better overall performance. Included are three M2.5x8mm and three M2.5×44.5mm screws in a natural silver finish.

Jessica Palsson sweeps South Swedish Cup Rd1

The opening round of this season’s South Swedish Cup was held at the Vetlanda Arena over the weekend. Building on her success at the recent second round of the Middle Swedish Cup, Kyosho’s Jessica Palsson again swept the competition, bringing home the TQ, overall win and best junior trophy. Starting from the 2 spot into the 30-minute A-main final she would ultimately leave pole position holder Hampus Berg (HB Racing) behind, bringing home the win some 23 seconds in front of Hampus as Pontus Larsson (Serpent) rounded out the top 3 results. Behind the three, Emil Magnusson (Kyosho) came in 4th and Jonas Dalensjö (HB Racing) made up the top 5.

Kevin Zwahlen wins at Swiss E-Buggy Nats Rd1

Round 1 of the Swiss 1/8th E-Buggy Nationals was held at the MNCJ Courgenay track last weekend. After the three qualifying rounds it was Team Associated’s Patrick Hofer with the overall TQ from Kevin Zwahlen (HB Racing) in 2nd, the latter scoring a single round TQ. In the finals Patrick was hampered by making too many mistakes which allowed local hero, Kevin Zwahlen to win A1 and A3 for the overall as Patrick had to settle for 2nd overall. Romeo Grass (Xray), who started from P3 into the triple A-mains, was able to conserve his qualifying position to round out the podium.

Sorjonen & Infanti win at WORS Tour Rd2

The second round of the WORS Tour was held at Kelowna RC in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. Robert Sorjonen would secure the TQ in both the 1/10 4WD Modified Buggy and 1/8 E-Buggy classes and he would went on to win the 6-minute 4WD Mod main some seven seconds in front of runner-up, Mike Wetmore as Tyrell Wilkinson rounded out the top 3 result. Over in 1/8 E-Buggy Sorjonen wasn’t able to match his qualifying performance as it was Richard Infanti with the win a lap ahead of Robert after the 10-minute A-main encounter. Jason Mardon would come in 3rd, some 8.5 seconds behind Robert.
