Arena 0.5mm carbon fibre touring car wing endplates

Arena RC Racing have released a 4-piece set of 0.5mm carbon fibre touring car wing endplates. While adding visual impact the plates add stability to the outer portion of the wing while still being very light of weight. The endplates are made from high-quality carbon fibre and measure 20x40mm, meeting most governing bodies’ requirements in terms of dimensions, however they may not be actually race legal in your area due to being considered a risk to other cars as well as marshals or the track surface because of their thin and rigid nature. The 4-piece set equips two standard touring car rear wings and it is available now.

Awesomatix A800FX FWD touring car – Prototype images

Awesomatix’s Max Mächler has released a couple of images of the company’s A800FX touring FWD prototype. The car builds on the A800X 4WD tourer, however a new chassis layout and belt-driven front wheel drive gearbox greatly change the appearance compared to the previous prototype that saw an unconventional “behind the front wheels” motor position. The new prototype is now a lot more up to date with current designs in terms of weight balance while the Awesomatix’s signature rotation dampers make for the very low overall centre of gravity that the original 4WD tourer takes profit of. The car is still in prototype stages with a lot of ideas still in the pipeline.

Exotek EB410 Edge lightweight body shell

Coming from Exotek and made for the Tekno RC EB410 buggy is the new Edge lightweight body shell. The body was designed to sit 8mm lower than the kit shell to lower the overall centre of gravity while offering a new look. Exotek have also taken great care to still allow the mounting of the fan above the motor and still allow normal height or low profile servo use. Clean lines are used throughout for a clean “aero” downforce package yet allows easy custom painting thanks to the smooth and rounded corners. The Edge body weighs in at a svelte 27g unpainted versus the 37g stock unpainted body thanks to a premium lightweight thickness polycarbonate that is a proprietary custom produced material only for Exotek that is much stronger and longer lasting. Included with the body come window masks but no wing.

Tödtmann takes International FEMCA On-road title

Last week saw the FEMCA Asia On-road Championship taking place at Tom Racing Circuit in Hong Kong. The race was saw an exciting qualification in which two rounds had been won by Germany’s Thilo Tödtmann with Meen Meen taking the final three. After the qualification the super-pole took place and Thilo was able to lay down the fastest lap taking the second direct place in the main final. For the grand final Thilo opted not to change tyres while Meen started on small tyres planning to do a tyre change. At the beginning of the race Meen slowly pulled away from Thilo while Chau Man Chan blocked his position against Nicholas Lee and Felix Law further down the order. When his car’s tyres finally came in, Thilo was able to set the fastest lap of the race and the gap to Meen didn’t increase anymore, staying at about eight to ten seconds. Everybody was waiting for the showdown of Meen and Thilo battling it out in the second part of the race. Unfortunately a collision with a mechanic on the track ended Meen’s chances. With his main competitor having had to retire Thilo switched to cruise mode for the remaining 25 minutes and took the 2018 International FEMCA titel in front of Felix Law and Chau Man Chan.

Malaysian Electric National League Rd2 – Report

The second round of the Malaysian Electric National League was held at The Dirt Bureau RC Raceway, in 3StonePark, Malaysia. For the first time in Malaysia, this race was an open round to encourage participants from neighbouring countries to qualify on a Malaysian Ticket for the IFMAR World Championships. Although the track seemed visually simple, racers commented that it was all a deception as the technicalities were in the tricky combination jumps, pronounced chicanes, corners and table tops and a tempting long jump at the end of the back straights. The 2WD Modified class heats was a close race between current championship leader, Jade Lim (Team Associated), Jody Long (Xray) and Kelvin Yong (PR Racing) who won a heat each but it was Jade Lim who secured the TQ.
