AKA have released a quick teaser shot of their new Cityblock short course tire and cyclone wheel that is due for release in the near future. AKA announced that they will also release their Gridiron thread for short course too.

AKA have announced the release of the Cityblock SC and Gridiron SC tires designed specifically for the 1/10 short course trucks. Made to fit the stock wheels from all the popular short course trucks, they feature a 2.2”/3” bead design and an inner carcass design made to perfectly fit the industry standard AKA closed cell foams. The result is a much more controlled outer sidewall for more consistent handling and tread wear. The Cityblock pattern is their best selling tread pattern and will be the most versatile SC tire available, while the Gridiron is suited to high bite blue grooved tracks with little dust where a short pin is a must to keep the truck consistent. AKA have also released the Cyclone SC wheel that fit all standard 2.2″/3″ short course tires and are compatible with Associated, HPI, Jammin, Kyosho and Traxxas trucks. All wheels are made from the same proprietary nylon blend as the the 1:8 AKA wheels and will be released in black and come two to a bag. Expect September releases for all products.

Having brought you CAD images of the new Short Course tires from AKA back in March, the US company have released photos of the final product together with full details. The Enduro is made specifically for the 2.2 – 3.0 inch wheels that are common on all Short Course trucks. The Enduro was designed with larger lugs that have been cut in various angles to provide you with great tread life but also give the lugs enough flex to give you the bite you need on a variety of different track conditions. The SC Wishbone is the first specific indoor or hard packed tire for Short Course racing. The Wishbones center bars and smaller pins gives the tire a huge advantage on hard pack or indoor conditions giving the truck more forward and side bite. All of AKA SC tires feature a unique inner carcass ribbing that supports the outer sidewall to the wheel and also captures the foam. This gives the tire a consistent feel across the width of the tire.

AKA have announced that Matt Gosch has joined their team for the coming season. “Matt and his dad are some of the nicest people you will meet and we are very proud to be apart of what they bring on and off the track”. In Matt’s first race out on AKA tires he TQ’d and won the event and was very impressed with how little the tires wore yet still produced great traction.

Gil Losi, Jr. and Mark Pavidis designed these tires which feature 2.2”/3” bead design and an inner carcass design made to perfectly fit the industry standard AKA closed cell foams. This results in a much more controlled outer sidewall for more consistent handling and tread wear meaning no more cranking in tons of camber to keep the tire patch flat on the ground. The AKA Enduro tread pattern is an all round good tire for just about any surface condition, while the Wishbone is suited to high bite blue grooved clay tracks or indoor clay tracks. AKA have also released of their next generation of tire foams. Based on the original industry standard closed cell foam insert, their new grooved insert is designed to take advantage of the radial ribs the carcass of their Wishbone and Enduro tires while still providing great performance in the other treads. This new grooved insert design is replacing our original non-grooved insert.

AKA have announced the release of their Enduro tire, the latest tire in AKA’s arsenal of tires to suit different track conditions. Based on a fresh take on tread design, the Enduro is built on a complete redesigned carcass which features a stiffer sidewall for better cornering and internal ribbing to help keep the tire more stable when used on the softer proprietary AKA compounds. The large cross cut lugs offer long tread life yet allow the lugs to fold over and bite into the harshest conditions. Expect the super soft version at the beginning of March, with the Soft and Medium versions to be released by the end of that month.
