Team Durango DESC410R announced

Team Durango DESC410R announced

Team Durango have made a cryptic announcement today about their latest project in their cost effective ‘R’ line, the DESC410R. No other information was given except for that it is close to finalised, but the SC monicker would suggest a short course truck, while the rest of the name leads us to believe that it is an electric 4wd 1/10th scale. We can expect more details soon.

Durango DNX408 radio tray revealed

Durango DNX408 radio tray revealed

Team Durango have released some details on the ‘revolutionary’ radio tray from the company’s DNX408. The radio tray is set into the chassis for the lowest centre of gravity, with only five screws holding it in place and is easy to slide the whole assembly out of the side of the car. Both servos are laid down and sit below the surface of the chassis, while the RX battery is also sunk in the chassis and centrally mounted at the rear of the car, resulting in further optimised center of gravity. The receiver itself is the only thing that sits high in the car, above the throttle servo, and the RX box has been fitted with louver type vents to keep the receiver cool in the hottest conditions and there is a removable cover to seal it up again when there’s water about.

Durango DNX408 ready for first public test

Durango DNX408 ready for first public test

Following the pictures yesterday of Durango designer Gerd Strenge with his test DNX408, Durango has released some photos of Adam Skelding’s test car. Adam is the Team Manager for Team Durango UK and he has been putting a lot of time in recently testing the DNX408 and is very happy with the car’s performance so far. “This weekend, four test cars will be seen in public for the first time. As we are still testing the car, we have no expectations about making the A-main at all -we are simply testing, testing, testing and putting as many miles on the car as we can to iron-out any remaining issues before we move into production.”

Tresrey Gainabull DEX410 body shell

Japanese company Tresrey have released their new Gainabull shell for the Durango DEX410. The new body follows the same trend as in 1/8th gas by sporting a forward mounted cockpit, which allows better flow of air to the rear wing for improved downforce. Designed with plenty of space around the electronics for cooling, together with air intakes, it can be easily mounted through use of body clip or velcro. Available now.

Hupo Honigl joins Durango’s 1/8th scale team

Hupo Honigl joins Durango's 1/8th scale team

Having signed multiple European Champion Hupo Honigl to their electric buggy team back in January, Durango have today announced that the Austrian driver will also now race for their 1/8th scale team through to the end of 2011, following the end of his contract at LRP to run their 1/8th scale buggy. We contacted Hupo for comment and he gave us this statement:

First of all I want to thank my former car sponsors LRP – specially Moritz Gaul – and Tamiya – Kiyo and Satoshi – for their awesome support over the last few years, it was a great time. But every contract has an end and it was time for me to make a change and now I´m looking forward to race my new cars and help develop and test for Team Durango – there are some nice projects in the pipeline. I will continue running all the LRP nitro as well as the electric power components, I will of course also stay with Proline Rubber for all cars and the radio gear is from Sanwa. I´m really looking forward to a successful racing year in 2010!

Durango DEX410R Prototype buggy

Durango DEX410R Prototype buggy

Just last week we wrote about Durango’s new ‘R’ spec high performance cost effective range of products and today they have released the first photos of the new DEX410R. Set to be released at the end of April the DEX410R will have a street price of US$350, €230 and £210, excluding local sales taxes/VAT, and as you can see from the photos it will share the same Team Durango DNA, performance and innovation as the DEX410, but with a more ‘regular’ spec, which when the time is right can eventually be upgraded all the way up to the full spec version.
