JConcepts A1R 190mm touring car body shell

Following several teasers on social media and extensive track testing, JConcepts have finally unveiled their all-new A1R 190mm touring car body shell. A true drivers body, the new shell has fundamental differences necessary for performance. When the team hit the track during the 2018 ROAR Nationals, it was apparent there would be a new era starting in touring car racing. As a racing veteran for almost 30 years, Paul Wynn went to work sculpting a new A1R. After input from National Champion, Ryan Cavalieri the new speedster started to take shape. First, the front-end was considerably laid-back, shortening the nose allowing the force to be placed over the leading-edge of the front tyres. A-pillar rails extend over the hood for some air deflection straight over the nose. The front windshield appears sunk, however its widely connected to the aggressive roofline giving the A1R its distinctive shape. Behind the front wheel well and in front of the rear wheel well a definitive edge strengthens the openings and also provides better race posture. A hard edge runs the bottom of the rocker-panel providing more grit to the design while also providing extra front to rear rigidity. Moving to the rear section of the body, the trunk area was reduced giving the body a much shorter overhang. The rear overhang is important, a critical part of the body which controls down-force and provides the placement for the rear wing. To complete the look and finish, the bubbled roof profile and minimally structured greenhouse area allows the body to whisk through high-speed sections. Included in each body set, a JConcepts A1R decal sheet and paint mask for all windows. The rear wing option includes two styles, first a standard lip design and a gurney option for the ultimate rear down-force tuning. To attach the rear wing, 3mm mounting hardware and plastic nuts are included to complete the light-weight assembly. The body is available in lightweight and regular weight specifications and it is built for all 190mm width touring car vehicles and was designed to meet all the ROAR “global body spec” rules. Standard thickness is most comparable to all sturdy racing bodies on the market. Light-weight is a thinner gauge material, most often used on the world racing scene for the most experienced or weight-conscious racers. Wheel well openings are pre-marked on the clear body for a 253.5mm wheelbase, however, depending on the length of the vehicle, these may be altered slightly by the user. The rear wings are 180mm wide each with one featuring a slight gurney for added rear grip.

The F2 body has been a trend setting design since its release on the buggy population and now, Traxxas Rustler drivers can drop-on a race favourite design to their bash vehicle of choice. The narrower front-end appears on-point and with an all-new grille and headlight layout with four included grille options. Protecting the front shock tower area is done with a traditional shape but contains new louver positioning and available air-release features located just in front of the main cab. The popular side-window treatment has been once again incorporated into the design for maximum coverage. The new body includes the traditional Finnisher “V step-downs” in the bed area which makes it identifiable to the savvy racer. The tail of the body has been lowered with an upper and lower transition making the rear a more durable piece even with light-weight materials. The F2 includes two spoilers, one for high-bite conditions and another taller version for low or medium bite conditions. JConcepts Ellipse 1/8th gold compound tyre

JConcepts’ Ellipse tyre, named after the centre bar built into the tread, is a compliment to successful tyres such as the Dirt Webs and Bar Codes. The web style tyre was built to compete on smooth high-grip indoor and outdoor surfaces which require a finely detailed connected bar pattern. The centre section of the tyre is a home run utilising a diamond home plate footprint to provide massive forward bite and increased longevity. The web of extensions are unique and have a directional touch giving the racer the ultimate tune-ability. The Dirt Web tyre was originally released during the 2013 racing season and debuted in spectacular fashion with a win at the CRCRC Midwest Championships. Since that time, the Dirt Webs have been an industry leader for indoor performance and often chosen as a control tire for performance, reliability and consistency. The Ellipse has already shown success in the hands of Ryan Maifield taking TQ and 1st place in the 1/8th buggy class at the 2018 ROAR 1/8th E-Nationals. JConcepts Twin Pins & Nessi 2.2” rear tyres

Two new 1/10th buggy rear tyres are coming from JConcepts in the form of the Twin Pins 2.2” and Nessi 2.2”. Starting with the Twin Pins carpet tyre, the tread features a dual spike design which is connected together to form a mini-mountain like silhouette. The Twins are rotated throughout the design to form a solid, pin rich environment so surface area is maximised. The tyre carcass itself has been refined, slammed to low-profile, high-speed standards and slimmed out to reduce weight in all possible areas. The centre section of the tyre is connected at the base by an ultra-low, winding “river walk” which strengthens pins near the base. The “river walk” can also extend the longevity of the tyre once the pins are gone, the “walk” retains some height for emergency long distance main events. The outside of a tire can make or break side-bite, too much pin and the tire can be somewhat tippy, while not enough yields a squirrely vehicle. The very outside of the Twin Pins have legs which extend out to micro pins giving the racer all-important support turning high-speed corners. The pink compound marked with two pink dots on the tyre represents a new compound for JConcepts, a medium soft material with healthy wear characteristics. The rear tyres include open cell inserts making them a complete set ready to mount, straight out of the package.
