Mugen MBX7R Evo 1/8th E-buggy kit

Mugen MBX7R Evo 1/8th E-buggy kit

Based off of the MBX7R is Mugen’s latest 1/8th E-buggy kit, the MBX7R Eco. The kit features some subtle design changes and updated parts compared to the MBX7 Eco, as are the 7075 aluminium chassis with optimised side angles for increases strength and better on-track feeling on all surfaces. Also part of the package are newly designed front uprights with a trailing axle position and 8x16mm bearings. Additionally the rear hubs received a make over to allow the use of 8×16 or 15x21mm bearings in combination with the newly designed rear driveshafts. While being in the suspension compartment, the 7R Eco also features new 1.6mm shorter front A-arms to allow the use of a spacer between the arm and the pivot ball while the rear arms are adapted to make way for the new rear universals. Other new parts include a revised Ackermann plate with five mounting positions for the steering links, and a new wing stay to move the wing forward as far as 10.5mm for improved traction. The kit is rounded out by a set of 16mm front and rear big bore shock absorbers.

Mugen Seiki ball bearings sets

Mugen Seiki ball bearings sets

Mugen Seiki have two new ball bearings sets for the MBX7R available. First up are 8x16x5mm NMB ball races, they improve the drivetrain efficiency by creating a smoother operation compared to the kit bearings. Also new are 5x10x4mm NMB bearings for the clutch of the MBX7R, MBX7 and MBX7T. The high-quality ball races improve the clutch action and make for improved efficiency. Both the 8x16mm and 5x10mm bearings sport metal shields and come as 10-piece sets.

Pro-Line pre-cut Phantom bodyshells

Mugen MBX7R 1/8th nitro off-road buggy

Mugen MBX7R 1/8th nitro off-road buggy

In the build up to the 2014 IFMAR 1/8th Nitro Off-Road World Championships in Italy Mugen Seiki introduce the follow-up model of the 2012 Worlds winning MBX7. Not a revolution but an evolution of the existing design, the kit features improvements in the suspension and steering areas along other subtle changes. Mugen concentrated on making the suspension on the MBX7R even better with new 16mm bodied front and rear racing shocks. These new shocks will improve stability in both bumps and jumps greatly. The bigger bodies’ shocks will make the 7R have less fade during longer runs which means you can drive even harder than ever before. The rear shocks are 4mm shorter and with the use of a new rear shock tower will keep the back of the 7R hooked up and on the ground. The 7R gets a chassis change with the side angle of the chassis changed which creates more strength and a better feeling on all racing surfaces.

Modellismo Collari MRX5 front body stabiliser

Modellismo Collari MRX5 front body stabiliser

Modellismo Collari introduce a front body stabiliser kit for the Mugen MRX-5. Attached to the front lower arm the stabiliser pushes against the bodyshell when the suspension compresses which keeps the front of the body at a more constant height, resulting in improved aerodynamics and better cornering. While being pushed slightly upwards during cornering the body can also become cut lower as the change of rubbing in corners is reduced. The set includes two carbon fibre brackets, two ball bearings, nuts and bolts.

Pro-Line MBX-7 Phantom bodyshell

Pro-Line MBX-7 Phantom bodyshell

Seen in teaser form only days ago Pro-Line now officially introduce the Phantom design bodyshell for the Mugen MBX-7 buggy. Making use of the distinctive design elements first seen on the 1/10th buggy Phantom bodies, the 1/8th scale variant again makes use of an aggressively styled cabin and a flowing rear section that culminates in a single point in front of the shock tower. An optional add-on rear fin helps with straight-line stability both at highspeed and while jumping. The body is meant to make a first public appearance at this week’s ROAR Gas Offroad Nationals in Texas. Red RC is on site with a full coverage that can be found by clicking here.

LMR MBX-7 carbon fibre RX battery holder

LMR MBX-7 carbon fibre RX battery holder

LMR introduce this carbon fibre battery holder for the Mugen MBX-7 buggy. Being a pure carbon fibre part it not only looks good but also protects LiPo and LiFe receiver battery packs from impacts. LMR recommends to simply tape the battery in place using a strong double-sided tape.
