SMI Motorsport has launched a new .21 off-road engine under its well-known Orcan product line. The new BT5 engine has five ports and comes with a combustion chamber for turbo plugs. Optimized combustion and reduced fuel consumption, as well as an easy handling and a solid idle, are the best characteristics of the Orcan BT5 engine. Exclusively produced by Novarossi for Orcan/SMI, the motor, including carburetor and turbo plug, is already available and comes supplied with Orcan maintenance oil (30ml) in a handy Orcan multifunction bag.
Proper maintenance is essential not only for the life time of every single part and the car as a whole, but also for the general performance. Nitro cars especially need intensive care and attention so with that in mind SMI Motorsport offers a new Orcan maintenance set for nitro cars that includes five products to keep the car’s parts running well and looking good. First of all, an engine maintenance oil which lubricates the bearings and avoids rust and oxidation. Second, a special oil for a perfect air filter. New from Orcan for the Xray NT1 and NT1R is this handy fuel level indicator decal. Simply apply it to the specified place on the radio plate next to the tank and when you lift your car, with the nose to the ground, you can now easily identify the remaining amount of fuel. The decal displays the measurement in 5ml increments and is available in orange and white or black and white.

SMI Motorsport have announced that father and son team, Tom and Jochen Wiesner, have both made the switch to use Xray cars, Hudy accessories as well as the complete SMI / Orcan range including engines, fuel and maintenance products. They will both compete regionally, in the Mid division (Hessencup), as well as in the German championship in Sand and Fischach. Both, Tom and Jochen Wiesner, are very experienced and successful racers and had the following to say about the deal:

SMI Motorsport will offer its Orcan tires for the 1/10 scale nitro on road class with a new rim. In comparison to the old wheel the new rim differs not only visually by a so-called Dish design but more than that with an optimised performance. The closed Dish design offers better aerodynamics and together with the lightweight version, a noticeably better turn-in, apart from the weight advantage. The new rims have been tested by the experienced SMI/Orcan team led by European Champion Dirk Wischnewski. “The driveability at the same shore level has raised generally and specially in fast corners”, says Xray factory driver Wischnewski. SMI offers the new Orcan tyres which come in handy and waste reducing, re sealable bags, in ‘super soft’ and ‘soft’ for front wheels and ‘soft’ and ‘medium’ for rear wheels.

German brand Orcan have released their diff plate tool specifically for those plates found in Xray T2, T3 and XII differentials. Similar to the tool available from Much More, it allows the user to evenly sand the diff plates smooth by giving the user an easy to hold handle that securely mounts the plate through the use of embedded magnets. One side is suitable for the plates in the T2 and T3 while the other is good for those in the XII.
