Red RC to attend MonTech New York Grand Prix

Following the recent announcement on the 2024 edition of the MonTech New York Grand Prix, Red RC is super excited to announce that we will be making the trip to the host track 360v2 RC in New Rochelle, New York, to cover the October 10-13th event.  Slotting nicely into our 3-stop World Championships coverage schedule, the MonTech New York Grand Prix will be the first major US based race we will have covered since the 22nd, and unfortunately last, running of the Touring Car Reedy Race of Champions back in 2019.  Reaching its 6th edition in 2024, the NYGP, which is supported by Italian bodyshell producer Montech, has established itself as a high profile race on the annual US onroad racing calendar and has drawn many top international entries stateside.  In addition to Red RC reporting on how the race unfolds, our friends at Mod Live Media will be live streaming all the action from the indoor race.

Yokomo RS1.0 Short Shock Conversion Kit

Yokomo has released a new Short Shock Conversion Kit to further enhance the performance of their RookieSpeed RS1.0 entry level 1:10 Electric Touring Car to racing specifications.  This set of carbon shock towers and aluminium short shocks delivers a precise ride with minimal body roll.  The shock length has been shortened by more than 7mm to achieve an impressively low centre of gravity.  The hard-coated aluminium cylinders operate smoothly and provide a supple suspension that grips the road surface effectively.  The latest competition springs can also be used for the shock springs, allowing for a much wider range of settings.  The front and rear shock towers, made of carbon and specially designed for short shocks, reduce weight and increase rigidity for sharper response.

MiniPro Motor Dyno V2

Almost 8-years on from the launch of their first Motor Dyno, MiniPro has released a V2 version of the R/C Car Inertia Motor Dynamometer.  The new V2 was designed for the testing all types of R/C motors, brushed or brushless.  The load on the motor is produced by the inertia flywheel unit, a high quality 6061 aluminium frame cover around the flywheel to protect from high rpm speeds, and an embedded dyno board to accurately measure the acceleration of the DUT (device under test).  The dyno uses a pinion/gear combination to accelerate the inertial mass (flywheel). Its embedded dyno board takes the flywheel’s inertia (resistance of an object to a change in its state of motion), and measures the rate it takes to accelerate it and calculates the output power and torque of the DUT.  The dyno repeatedly measures and calculates power in small increments to produce an accurate graph on a PC of the motor’s power characteristics.  Precise, otherwise known as “Repeatability” is what you want in a dyno, that means test the same electric motor time after time and get the same results. The V2 dyno is capable of repeatable test results using the built-in Throttle controller sensor (license required).

Hamon completes clean sweep at QLD Champs

Serpent’s Jeff Hamon completed a clean sweep of the Modified Touring Car class at the RC Maker RCRA EP Queensland State Titles over the winning, adding the title to the NSW State Titles he won earlier in the year.  With the Bayside Radio Control Car Club hosted event attracting just shy of 100 entries, Hamon would secure the overall TQ after topping 3 of the 5 qualifiers.  Making the trip from Singapore, factory Yokomo driver Nicolas Lee would be fastest in the other two qualifiers putting him second in the A-Main ahead of team-mate & defending Champion Simon Nicholson.  Setting a new track record in qualifying, Hamon would wrap up the title by taking the first two A-Mains.  Lee would win A3 to finish runner-up with Nicholson completing the podium after winning out on the tie breaker with new ARC signing Brayden Stanley.  In 13.5T, Awesomatix’s Marcus Askell took the title.

Neumann adds 15th German 4WD National title

Sworkz’ Joern Neumann added yet another German National title to his CV over the weekend, the multiple European Champion taking the 1:10 4WD Buggy title for the 15th time at the distinctive blue surface ESV Bischofsheim outdoor track.   Winning the title for the first time in 2005,  in qualifying Neumann topped all 5 rounds to secure the TQ ahead of the Schumacher of 2021 Champion Marcel Schneider and Xray of Elias Jordan.  In the triple finals that order would stay the same for the final podium line-up.  Also racing in 2WD Stadium Truck, the results of both qualifying and the final was a repeat of 4WD Buggy, giving Neumann the double.  The 2WD Buggy Nationals are held separately with Neumann the reigning Champion.
